Fender Ultra Precision bass

My precision is from 2020 and my jazz is from 2022. Other than the volume difference of the p pickup versus the j pickup I believe the preamps are exactly the same. As a side effect the ultra jazz with two j pickups has a very hot signal in passive mode, and an even hotter signal in active.
My 2022 jazz V is shipping today or tomorrow. I'll report back on its output difference.

Looks like the collection is complete!
Very impressed with the low B string. Sounds very piano tone clear. I think I like the passive mode the best in terms of everyday gigging sound. The active mode the pickups and preamp get very hot. But boosting those mids at 800 Hertz really gives that character that I really enjoy for the fender jazz tone.
Fresh off the FedEx truck today still has the protective plastic and labels on the knobs for the Fender V.
I've played it for a little bit but still doing day job stuff. In the coming days I'll post again with some updates and hopefully some sound samples.

That's a saintly collection! Didn't even get to see an Ash P in that colour here in the UK but I got an Aged Natural. Would have loved to have tried the maple neck on that. Congrats on the five too!
Its interesting with how the light hits it, it almost changes color depending on the color temp. I love the fact that it's "rare" given that Fender no longer makes ash bodies due to the bug infestation a few years back, or so I was told.

Here is mine purchased it 12/27/19 [picture from listing of exact Bass I received] wanted Ash and liked Burst Color
Looks very similar! Maybe they called it a different name. Cameras if white balanced differently make it look more orange, or more reddish hues.
It is the same Plasma Red Burst; Only Plasma and Natural are Ash all other finishes Alder.
PS; Mine looks more like yours in most light [more yellowish around pickups and bridge] also may be called Plasma Red [no burst in name] but looks like burst to me

I was thinking much the same. So nice when something looks as good as it functions. Just read about someone’s two year waiting list for an Ultra Jazz. Feeling very blessed considering when they came out everybody said I’d wasted my money.

The J’s tone, being slightly mellowed out by the HC pickups (I always compare them to the gnarly single coil pups on my AO ‘60s J), is quite smooth for recording purposes I guess ..
That's par for the course for anything new from Fender or MarkBass on this Forum.
Interesting from 2007-2014 MarkBass got same attention and raves as Mesa is today
I bought my Ultra P when it was first introduced despite the thrashing it took on these pages; knowing most nay Sayers never even saw one let alone play one
I’m on the lookout for one of the earlier Elites, but not an Ultra - I’m interested in the asymmetrical neck profile and the regular bridge that Fenders been using since 2008. And I’m especially not a fan of badass style bridges.
So true but I can understand the dissatisfaction with Markbass if customer support is poor in your country. It's been great here. So much so that their discontinuing most of their range is a bit of a tragedy in my mind. People still nit-pick at the Ultras but I think that's just a way of sounding superior. Better players than I ever will be have advised Fender and, as always, they've listened to get the best result. There's a bass out there for everyone. If you find yours there’s no reason to worry about anyone else's.

I have had no problem contacting MarkBass and receiving a reply to my questions and concerns; Actually getting competent Customer support from Fender was more difficult but eventually did.
Service is more challenging since their is only one shop seemly capable in USA
But seems same for many since quality Retailers are disappearing and service cost increasing.

The thin 'D' style/ compound radius 10-14 on Ultra's is extremely comfortable to play for me; Put's my thumb[on back of neck] closer to fretboard for easier finger stretching and overall playability is the best I have had in my hands in my 45+ years of playing.
But yes I believe the Elite with C to D neck profile, compound radius and standard Hi Mass bridge should be great also
I had the Am. Elite P before .. great natural finish and ash body but the neck felt .. Chunky!
My Ultra got a couple of upgrades this week!!
Aqua Pearloid pick guard from WD Custom Pickguards. Arrived today and fit perfectly! Sorry, not a fan of tort!!
And earlier this week I put on a set of TI Jazz Flats! Still getting to know them but liking what I’m hearing and I’m adjusting to the slightly lower tension.

I played one last week (Arctic White with Tort) in the local guitar shop where I bought my Ultra Jazz V. Man, I want one so bad. It was so easy to dial in a great sound.
Thats on my list of upgrades too, but the dark blue pearl for the Fender V.
My wife unfortunately HATES the Artic White and the brown tort it comes with. I think it looks incredible, but agreed to an extent the brown color isn't my first choice either She likes the darker colors. I told her what about the dark blue PG and she can accept that... it's our wedding theme colors so I think its a great compromise. Hope to have that upgrade in a few weeks.
I’ve been playing a set of Ti flats on an Ultra Jazz V for two years. The same set. The string-feel is luxurious, to my senses anyway.
I have the stock Fender rounds on another Ultra Jazz V that I received recently, and I gotta say, I love them both!
