Fenderbird Club

Here's a pic of my recently completed Fenderbird:

The neck is actually from my first bass (a black Fender MIJ 62 P... its body is waiting to be fitted with a Status fretless neck.) The body I picked up cheap from Warmoth's showcase.

Specs:
EMG PJX set (wired at 18v.)
Warmoth Mahogany body with cocobolo top (and matching control knobs.)
Fender MIJ P-bass neck
Schaller bridge.
Hipshot machineheads.

I was debating whether or not to put a preamp of some sort in but this bass just doesn't need it. Currently set up with DR Sunbeams and this bass is TASTY. Definitely has that modern sound associated with EMGs but it's a sound that was missing from the stable.

I'll post better pics sometime.

Oh, and with the strap buttons where they are I get NO neck dive at all (my biggest concern.)

does anyone actually make these?

I have not played one of these but they look cool.

He has added more basses to his line since the first time I posted the link.

I have been considering buying one for myself.

Necro thread revival bump whatever.

I found this guy on craigslist. Chinese Epi Fender-chicken with a Squier P-bass special neck. Was strung BEAD. Terrible pickups, but interesting pickguards were included. Going to put a Novak Bisonic/Darkstar in it, fill the other hole, Supertone bridge, probably paint it too.

I highly recommend Cataldo basses. I own two
:)

Mahogany body, Bart passive TB coil, Warmoth wenge neck / Ebony fretboard. Hipshot A bridge. Schaller BML tuners. Neutrik jack. The middle pot is *empty* right now, as I will someday add another pup at the bridge. Prolly a big single.
