I just don't get how he thinks that that tone sounds good at all. He could be playing 30 year old bass strings, and nobody would be the wiser. That isn't bass playing, that's throwing strings on a piece of wood and smacking them. I like to be able to hear my bass sing, not the sound of metal on frets and that's is. One thing... an accugroov 21" woofer would work really well for him.
21Hz of pure low end trash.

Well, his EQ doesn't help much. No mids, boosts low and highs, and mics the tweeter. Recipe for disaster, if you ask me.

You know, get over it.

It is his sound, leave him alone. He likes it, and personally I think if he changed it, it would ruin korn. Their odd sounds are what make them the most unique metal band of the 90s.

As long as he likes it, we have no right to diss him and his sound.

PS:

Your sound sucks on the new album.

fieldy sucks big time
and all the songs covered where jokes
who's idea was it anyway to let snoop dogg perform a metallica song :(

and again to be with korn, why do there instruments clang all the time????? some kind of signature sound, really don't like their sound

mtv : bunch of crap to create a certain kind of people, when mtv says : listen to korn, or avril or snoop dogg, then the viewers will do that, it's just the way commercial tv works

ROFLMFAO! That is the funniest thing I have heard in about 2 weeks.

I hate punk music, but I think that Sum 41 had the best preformance on the show.

Im my opinion, along with many people I have talked to, the best performance that night was Limp Bizkit's. They did what should be done for a good cover song. They didn't butcher the song, but they added their own sound to it, they made it their own while still being faithful to the original. No matter how much you may hate Durst and his ego, you have to admit, he and his band are pretty good musicians.

Second I would have to say was the acoustic version of Nothing Else Matters. It was the same way, a really cool version of the original, but different in its own way.

Sum41 just did a blind cover. They sounded good, but it didn't sound enough "their own". They played the music, sang the words, but didn't make it their own. I would say they came in 3rd.

Korn would have had a pretty good show if it wasnt't for Fieldy. The rest of it sounded pretty good to be honest. Fieldy's tone killed it.

Avril and Snoop were jokes.

Really don't think about "Fiedly's" playing much because he admits he doesn't practice and it certainly shows. It's just a big noise IMO.

But he can get away with it because the guitars are really carrying the sound..........which I find interesting, (and hell, I'm over 40!), because they create a different sound with the myriad of gizmos they use. Plus, the songwriting is often very different. It typically has a very clear, sort of "ugly", musical vision that I wouldn't call derivative.

Moreover, the years have taught me you have to face reality. And that band is having a profound influence on a whole generation of upcoming rock musicians, like it or not. That includes Reginald (Fieldy).

I thought I'd never say this, but I thought Avril Lavinge's band did a superb job with the Metallica song they performed. The guitarists and drummer were hot and right on the money with great sounds and the bass player was okay. And for once , I even liked Avril!!!

We here at TB dont generally tolerate comments like that. If you post that someone sucks, then we prefer you back up that statement with why you feel he sucks.

This is also a good example of the types of comments I was referring to in my previous post.

I dislike Fieldy because not only does he not practice and act proud of it, but he's too anti-smart to realize that when miming a performance on national TV, it is generally considered necessary to MAKE AT LEAST SOME CONTACT WITH A STRING WHEN THE SOUND OF HIS BASS IS BEING PLAYED.

Anyone who has that little respect for music deserves all the poo that gets flung at him, IMO.

Why does everyone bash filedys tone? The tone on the first 2 cds is undeniably the ballsiest tone I have ever heard. Its funny how much everyone talks about him, he must be doing something right, you hear more about fieldy than you do wooten, thats for sure. With all due respect, I bet your tone sucks, all honkey and mid-rangey.

Ya'll ain't gonna like this:

I'm not a big Korn fan, They are OK with me.

Any Cat, who you, and everbody damn else in this world, knows who he is, and he plays bass for a living, and you enjoy bashing him, for whatever reason.....

Well, keep practicing. Maybe someday, people will know who you are too. (not like now, where everyone calls you a lamer). And then, we'll be able to bash you too, 'cause we'll know who you are.

We don't know now.
