Fieldy's sound

i'm not specifically a korn fan. i'm not an anti-fan, either; they're just not my thing, unless i'm in a tequila-drinkin', cop-slappin' mood.
(not you, cheezewiz...yer too much fun!)...and i don't get into that mood too often.
that being said, i have nothing bad to say about fieldy. he does what is necessary for the gig, can do it better than i would, loves what he does, and does it successfully.
sure, he may not be jaco, but who here is?
sure, it seems a lot of his fans are illiterate (judging by their posts...:D), but since when is that a sin?
besides...he got on 'south park'...:D

MATT...i listened to your songs. keep it up.
'peppermint girl' is a blast, 'gods of metal' was better than i thought it would be...lots of cliches, (IMO), but very tastefully done. i laughed my ass off, but not in derision. i liked it.
(this from an old man, FWIW)

It needs more click

I know... it's crazy... I have to record direct, and you without a doubt need to mic to get the clickity clack clack. Oh well, I was hoping my Jonathan Davis impression would overshadow it. :bawl:

daofktr: Ha, you listened to my other songs. Gods of Metal is kind of a joke. My friend was a film student and wanted to do a Black Metal music video and needed music: I did the music and he "sang."

I still need to bug him to get me a copy of the music video... it's pretty funny. :bassist:

matt...i did listen to 'karrot'...i'm not qualified to say whether it's so totally korn, or fieldy, or whatever. i did like it, though.
i mentioned the other songs because, for once, i listened to other people's stuff (i suck that way), and i wanted to tell you my impressions.
ps...to answer the question posed in 'karrot': i'm sure they do.
:D

bein as fair and professional as i am its a band with **** guitarists but one of the best drummers out there... just like system of a down its the drummer that keeps them together... Rythym my ring... he sucks his bass sucks and his sound aint even a sound

Is resurrecting a thread 5 years after it was resurrected 5 years after it died even okay? Why?..........confusion has set in and I'm scared.

LOL ;) :D Yeah, it is. It's okay to resurrect threads. I have never done it before so I figured I might as well. Especially since the thread is so damn old :p:p:p

Plus I also wanted to know what the other guy meant... he had typos in his post.

I think it might be interesting to hear some of the early posters thoughts on Fieldy's tone(sic) and skill now ten years into this. I do agree that what he did fit the sound of the band. I saw them play with limp biskit(?) before anyone had heard of L.B. and wasn't impressed with Fieldy. This was, however, before I knew what a bass was. I think I was 19 (1996/7 I think).

Does anyone know how Fieldy ffrom Korn gets that rattle kinda sound??
His sound is not hard to achieve in any means. However each korn album is different when it comes to his bass being tracked. each producer korn has used has tracked and engineered his sound differently. personally i think issues was tracked and recorded brilliantly as some songs where a mix of woofer and horn and some where mainly just woofer. but if your asking in general how do obtain his sound to get an overall feel for his style, scooping the mids and boosting the treble along with tuning A D G F C. however the clicking noise is all in a low string action and a mic'd horn. issues and self titled where mic'd perfectly to the horn imo and really showed off his sound perfectly
