Iran vs Nigeria has been the worst game of the world cup. This one, very VERY close second! Tell me Holland isn't just gonna destroy whoever wins this game. Horrible showing Costa Rica.
The Mexican manager blew it. As soon as they scored, he tried to defend a one goal lead for 40 minutes, which is just suicide. Holland deserved to win in the end, even with the dubious penalty (I thought they should have had one earlier anyway). Costa Rica should have had an clear pen for handball in the first half, so I reckon they deserved to win as well (their Keeper was mighty), even though neither team was very impressive. Some damn fine penalties though under that sort of pressure.
Did anyone see Suarez's tweet? He said he "fell on the opponent with his teeth"! LOL That's like telling your friend that you fell on his wife with your penis.
I've been catching up with pages of interesting football chit-chat. I don't mind the goal-line technology, because that's a clear cut thing, not open to interpretation. I wouldn't like to see it go any further though. Even offside decisions are often a matter of opinion, even with slow motion replays and 4 different camera angles. As Titus said a while back, debating refereeing decisions is part of the game.

The first goal by james rodriguez was awesome. Received a pass of his chest, rotates and kicks it right under the cross bar. That was like elite ball handling and control under pressure.
I agree, and if referees stopped giving penalties when players dive like that, they'd stop doing it. After all, it's the refs who are being conned, so whether there's contact or not, there's no way of knowing if it would have slowed the player down one bit, let alone actually brought him down. This exaggerated diving when players feel the slightest contact has become so bad that commentators call it "clever play". Honestly, they feel the slightest touch and it looks like they've been shot with a high powered rifle.
If they react like that, the refs shouldn't ever give them the decision even if there is contact, and they should book them (in and out of the penalty box). That's the only way to put a stop to what is the worst aspect of the modern game - it honestly drives me mad.

I think the ref should carry a ball peen hammer. If a player dives and gets a penalty out of it, then a replay official somewhere should call down to the field referee who would then stop the game. His ball peen hammer would be used on the offending player's fingers. Start with the fingernail and work up one joint at a time. There should be an anvil or concrete block or something on the sidelines. Actually, any player who takes a dive should be due for this treatment. Problem solved.
Yep, Columbia have been the most convincing team so far; they cruised through that match. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Brazil in the next round, especially after their dodgy performance (they were very lucky indeed). I'm amazed that Fred and Jo are the best strikers Brazil can find - they're both hopeless. Hard to win a World Cup without a decent No.9.
Naw, the funny thing is Neymar is a better striker than either, and they have decent wide players. Should be playing Neymar up top, some other wingers, Fred and Jo left at home.
The last match, you mean? Matches involving Greece are nearly always dull. I'm glad they lost because I hate their defensive style, almost as much as I hate watching the Italians for the same reason.
Neymar's not really a striker as such. I don't think he'd be as effective playing that role, but who knows?; he certainly does know where the net is. Perhaps that is something they could try, and play Oscar as a no 10, which would suit him better.

He used to be, IIRC he played as a striker as much, if not more than out wide pre-Barca, it's only the last year he seemed to be exclusively out on the left.
