Half-time entertainment for my fellow real musos. A totally bastardised version of Antonio Carlos Jobim's tune "One Note Samba" has been used in the TV adverts for this World Cup in Brazil (in the Visa ad). Here's a great take on it with some genuine class.

Incredible, especially at 2 mins when she really lets rip.

Anyone who has ever used a click track to help with timing should watch the chemistry between these two.

I didn't like it, though I've never claimed to be a real muso.

She's a good singer but that classical Spanish intro for the first 20 secs was cheesy. (I guess to him Spanish/Brazilian is the same thing?)

That version misses the whole feel of what a samba is. It's meant to be very laid back and relaxed, very smooth, and they turn it into that herky-jerky jazz sound. I'm not sure what that style is called.

We played your lads there (Rugby) a few weeks back.

Nice looking stadium (though the dimensions only barely fitted a rugby pitch!).

I don't really care for labels, genres or pigeonholes. It was a beautiful piece of music, and it made me smile.
