FIFA World Cup 2014

bars in OB or Mission. you'll find something
I remember there being quite a large sports bar just outside the gaslamp quarter, they plied us with cheap food and booze the night we went on to get kicked out a bar because a guy from NYC couldn't keep up...good times.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually staying on the gaslamp quarter. Man that drive back to LA Sunday is gonna be brutal! But as long as we win I'm sure I won't mind lol

Looks like Portugal's out, and Ronaldo has been very ordinary. He's not much of a captain either - far too negative with all his pouting. I'd say the U.S and Germany will go through in that group. A good performance by Holland, and I do rate them a serious chance of winning. Brazil have been ordinary so far, as have Argentina, so I'm putting my money on a European team winning, despite what all pundits are saying. I still fancy Germany, and France have been surprisingly good as well.

So what does everyone think - a European team, or a South (or Central) American one? I'll bet $20 to my or your favourite charity on a European side.

I don't know about that, there's still many possibilities in that group. USA needs to win or at least draw against Germany, a tall order. If USA loses and Portugal wins against Ghana, they tie for points, and it would be decided on goals. Same for a Ghana win.

I thought it was a great game yesterday, USA seemed to have it won. The US commentators spent the second half talking smack about how Renaldo wasn't delivering, maybe wasn't as fit as he could be, didn't defend, was maybe over rated: SURPRISE! Who's right there at 94 minutes with a perfect cross? Nice goal, even though it was a heartbreaker.

Now, who thinks Mexico can beat Netherlands?

When has CR7 EVER defended?

The Collective Wisdom is the average predictions of all the players, again just for this round, I'll catch it up with the previous rounds if I get a chance.
And, eh, nothing else to see here, now move along chaps...

Hmmm, without bad refereeing decisions, Mexico should have had two more goals, and a few penalties.

Should have been group winners.

Agreed. And not to mention they've given Brazil a penalty that shouldn't have been given first game. Today I thought there 3rd goal was offside. But come on we're talking one of the powerhouses here, AND the host/home team.

I'm picking Mexico to beat Holland. That's just going with my heart supporting the team I root for. I honestly think Holland has what it takes to win it all.

I've only watched the two USA games in English with the American commentators, the rest I've watched on Univision in Spanish. Much more exciting in Spanish, and I don't even speak Spanish. The US announcers were flat out annoying. (especially the guy with the Brit accent)
you have to speak a little spanish in l.a. & a little korean. at least know how to order food/drinks

I'm excited for it, for numerous reasons. One of the main ones seeing how they tactically approach the game, if they both stick to their 3-5-2/5-3-2 lineups, it could be very interesting. Netherlands have been playing with two CM's and an AM, whereas Mexico have been doing it with two CM's and a DM, I wonder will they cancel each other out?
