FIFA World Cup 2014

Cantona did what a lot of people would have in the face of some clown spouting vile abuse whilst thinking he is untouchable. In his position, it wasnt acceptable, in the same way that the teachers amongst us have, I don't doubt, felt like giving some little swine a dig -deserves it but can't be done.
He was severely punished for it s o Saurez as a serial offender with malice aforethought deserves more.

At least with the Cantona thing, there's that wonderful feeling of 'get in there, Eric'.

DS may be able to confirm this, but I'm sure I read somewhere once that after he retired, when asked what his biggest regret in football was, he replied 'not hitting that Palace fan harder'.

Legend.

Another one along the same lines:

"My best moment? I have a lot of good moments but the one I prefer is when I kicked the hooligan."

Also, I should change that previous comment, angry frenchmen don't just make for awesome football:

What Cantona done wasn't acceptable, but he served a massive ban, including one given to him *by* United, which Ferguson now regrets, as the FA told him if he punished Cantona, they'd leave it be, but they tacked on loads more themselves.

That said, I do believe there was some justification, vile, racist abuse and spitting. While not the right thing, that Palace fan well earned it.

In Suarez case, not only is he violent though, his is the vile racist too.... and does these things unprovoked.
