Objectively, Spain is by far the best defensive team and France the best attacking team. Favouritism is deserved.

Neither England nor Argentina have consistently played to their potential, however, both teams have conjured victories through a few minutes of brilliance in otherwise uninspiring performances. They also revel in underdog status. I wouldn't be surprised in a fairytale finish - either a Messi master-class or English redemption.

These last matches will be compelling viewing!

IMO any Cape Verde match was more fun than any match of the 4 semi finalists. Well.. Argentina - Cape Verde was amazing. And Vozinha will play for the Inter Miami soon.

Will definitely still be watching. Games today and tomorrow should be really good. Expecting France to win today and not sure about tomorrow. Been rooting against both this whole way. VARgentina will finally play a top team and they've barely gotten past their previous opponents. It's a toss up.

They tried hard but the Spanish defence was so well organised. That old cliche about defence winning titles may be proved true again!

I thought the French were given a bit more latitude by the ref - they seemed to get away with infractions that Spain were pulled up on. To top it off, Mbappe should have seen a red card for his elbow to the head of Simon. A yellow was appropriate for a collision. An intentional attack to the head deserves the red. Different rules for superstars?

I was sitting at a Twin Peaks last Thursday watching whatever game was on last Thursday evening next to an obviously huge fan. He was obviously Irish. He said he coached soccer at home. One of the teams did seem to be playing mostly defense as a strategy. He went on and on about how the the days of winning with defense were gone.
Maybe not.

I had Appt. to get my MO Safety & Emissions inspection on my 2006 F-150 today @3 CDT, so I took off work early. They had Hallmark Christmas on, so I asked if they could change it to Fox2 for the game (she could). They pulled the truck in @ 3:25, at 3:45, manager wants to show me something - the rusted brake line between the MC & ALB block had ruptured between the time I parked it and they pulled it in (fix it!), so I got to watch the 2nd half. Good for Spain!

$36 for MO Insp (passed both), $77 for brake line & bleed w/fluids.

A good day, and the timing was PERFECT?...

The greatest thing is to watch all these vids of the foreign fans discovering the USA, and finding it far nicer than what they'd been led to believe. Priceless to see their reactions of the various NFL stadiums, American restaurants, fast food, and shopping at Costco and Buc Ee's.

I've always harbored a suspicion that if A) professional soccer (futbol!) paid the same as the other American pro sports, and B) a landmark, retired player like Brady or Manning or other household Hall of Famers began exhibiting CTE symptoms and passed away in an ugly way, the future of college and NFL might suddenly be very different. I already know a lot of young parents who are glad their kids are in soccer and wouldn't dream of them playing football.
