Kibble, milkbones, and P Basses. And redheads.
I love watching the matches, but I am SO sick of the flopping. I thought some NBA players were bad.

Much of the damage, though by no means all, was self-inflicted. But then, that's one of the measures of quality. The best teams are, among other things, less likely to shoot themselves in the foot. The US is not a top ten team. I think we knew that going in. Still, that was an ass whooping tonight.
Yes, you are correct. When you are intimidated and pee in your pants, this is the result. Also, when the other team has quality, it's a recipe for disaster. Overall, I thought Pochettino did a nice job changing the style of play for us. I'd love for him to sign an extension.Much of the damage, though by no means all, was self-inflicted. The rules are that when you receive a red card, you are ejected from the game and suspended from the next one. On review, they CAN decide on a longer suspension, but one game is mandatory. FIFA changed the rule last night. The soccer world, which is generally full of good will and riding the wave of a good World Cup is clearly unhappy.I'm really just asking a question and trying to learn something from those who do understand the rules.
As they should be.The rules are that when you receive a red card, you are ejected from the game and suspended from the next one. As questionable as that decision was, it seems not to have been against the rules. There is a FIFA rule in place that allows them to do what they did, article 27 of the FIFA disciplinary code, and it was in place well before this WC started. So "one game" is not in fact 100% mandatory, just the default standard, to which exceptions are and should be very few.The rules are that when you receive a red card, you are ejected from the game and suspended from the next one. Agreed.RIDICULOUS meddling from someone who has no business interfering.
I understand that rule completely. The rules are that when you receive a red card, you are ejected from the game and suspended from the next one. It was a call from the field just like any other sport. The official apparently didn't think it looked unintentional.I understand that rule completely.
What I don't is what constitutes a red card. Unintentionally stepping on an opponent deserves a red card?
Implementation of yellow and red cards is based on the potential to cause serious, possibly career-ending, injury. By the rules, intent or not does not matter. In practice, judgement is made by refs in deciding if a violation is yellow or raises to red-worthy. In this case, rake and step could have resulted in an ankle break. The intent was not there, IMO, but the way VAR is implemented, the ability of the ref to take the moderate course is taken away.I understand that rule completely.

I’m an old English guy. I love football and the World Cup. I’d never call it the FIFA World Cup as the FIFA part is so yuk and pretty much irrelevant . It’s the teams that make it special.
Hopefully UEFA will organise a new World Cup , you never know.
These last 3 days have given me the best England overseas performance ever and in yesterday’s match, the funniest result ever. Never has most of the world been so united behind Belgium. Love it!
Can, Mex, USA, you’ve given us an excellent tournament so far. Thanks!
Thank you! That answered my question.Implementation of yellow and red cards is based on the potential to cause serious, possibly career-ending, injury. By the rules, intent or not does not matter. No sports league should ever be influenced by anyone outside of that league. The outside meddling after the red card was repugnant, and whether or not one believes the red card was justified is irrelevent.
