Somebody made it into the bass he / she wanted. NBD. 30 or 50 years later I'm sure that person got their money's worth out of that bass and it owes nothing to the owner. It's still a Jazz Bass under all the extra crap so somebody wanting a 63 Jazz could do worse for $3K. AND - It just might sound cool with the other PUPs selected in certain combinations.

Sorry but I don't get all worked up about the rare / vintage instrument thing. It's a bass.

It’s kind of a miracle the neck is in relatively decent shape. The rest looks like the bastard child of Billy Sheehan and Berry Oakley. Berry Sheehan?

The description claims that it sings. It probably sounds like a choir with all of those pickups. BobKos got it right when he said the tonal variety may be vast with all of the possibilities. May be a mojo laden tone machine of the veg-o-matic variety. At least the body hasn't been mutilated to the point you can't tell what it left the factory as. Those cases are really sad. This sort of reminds me of Walter Becker's P bass. As far as it being a rare find, unfortunately, idiocy runs rampant in our society.

I wouldn’t buy it- but I think it’s priced pretty accordingly. The neck & hardware alone are probably worth the asking price.

It's beautiful! Rock that s$$$ the way it is, it might have original pups, it probably sounds amazing. That thing is R&R. Folsom prison is just up the road from Auburn. Screw all that been in a smoke-free environment, never been gigged ca ca.

I’m not going to get into the “ how can you have done this” part of the conversation.
I actually kind of like the idea of extra pickup’s & the jag control plate is interesting...

I just have to ask... why split the p pickup around the bridge jazz p/u? (I know, why do any of it?....) Why not just keep it together on neck side of bridge j p/u? The d/g side has to be useless twang...
Anyone seen that done before? Just a strange choice.
I think p/j/p/j pickup orientation would’ve been crazy enough and probably offer a huge tonal palette...

To me, the problem isn't the mods per se. It's the pathetically minimal description for a bass with a $3K asking price. No details on the electronics changes, no mention at all of the refinish, and most importantly, no pics of the neck date. Also, the bridge looks like it was soaked in acid for 50 years.
