Finally a "tele" style bass body.

The Tele is the perfect guitar shape, I love its simplicity and clean lines (been a Tele player all my guitar playing life ).

When the dimensions are close enough to the Tele guitar, a Tele bass can look great but I've seen some that look pretty odd.

I also don't like that Fender calls theirs a Tele but the upper horn is a different shape

LP basses, on the other hand? Just
wrong.

Then again, I don't like the LP guitar either, that body is just too curvy.

Just finished this one for a buddy of mine using his 70's fretless P neck and a body I made a couple of years ago. Sounds rad.

While I adsolutly adore Telecasters as guitars, I've never been able to wrap my mind around the idea of that shape as a bass.

This. It was disappointing seeing a tele styled bass for the first time.

Yea, I made one of those last year for my girlfriends daughter. Mine was shortscale, and so was Tim's. I've kinda always wanted a full scale one since then.

I bought one of those Rondo short scale jazz necks with just this in mind. Did you get the tele body from Rondo too?
What bridge is that?

Thanks, it was a Rondo sx tele body that I used. Stripped the poly and finished in black lacquer. I used a musicmaster bass bridge. First I had to cut off the back of the old tele bridge, then mounted the musicmaster bridge to scale.

I'm currently having Landing build me a shortscale telebass. It will be a mahogany body with ash top stained brown. Darkstar pickup... yada yada yada.

Not too far from this aside from the colour.

Two or 3 months.

Should be quite nice and will suit my roots rock band's style much more than my current bass... although I'm going to try to keep them both.

This would be the telebass that I would buy.

I love my clear orange semihollow ASAT, but if I went for a solidbody, that is definitely the one to get. Here's a pic of the butterscotch blonde/maple treatment from the G&L website:

The solid ASATs come with a belly cut on the back, and you can get the arm relief bevel on the front as an option. Style plus comfort!
