Finally got my P Bass

HNBD !

very nice looking P, but why oh why does Fender think white pickguards look nice? First thing I did with my Jazz was to change it for a tort.
Since you purchased a tort guard, you should know why. I recently bought a MIM P 3 color with white (ugly) and I am going to order a tort for it. The white runs $35.00 and the tort is $85.00.
It is about cost, the same reason you no longer get even a gig bag, much less a hard case with a new intstrument any more.
Notice you see a lot of maple fretboards. They are cheaper than rosewood.

A couple more...

Hey gang! Just want to say thanks to all who helped me decide on my p bass. Finally got it! My local guitar center had a few, a MIM Fender with a mediocre finish and this this MIA Fender. The decision was so esay. Well here it is!View attachment 516804
Cool looking bass bud, I may be trading my Music Man Stingray HH, for a Fender Roadworn Jazz with upgraded pic ups, and a 51 Pbass, and some cash. We'll see what happens

Somehow, the tortoise shell pickguard is like magik eye candy... it seems like any Fender bass just looks better with a tortoise shell pickguard. I'm particularly fond of how it looks, in contrast with a maple fingerboard.

Agreed. Here's my American Design Experience Precision with tort:

If you buy an MIA standard it comes with a rosewood fretboard and hardcase. I just bought one a month ago.
