Finally! New Peavey bass heads, and MINI!

The mini Mega is on Sweetwater's site with all purple lights. You apparently can change the colors of the lights to other colors. No mention of midi in on SW's page though. Hope it isn't something that is being left off. I see no builtin system of saving patches or anything. So, maybe just FX loop in out, Compressor in/out and things like that via midi.

Do you have a link to the Sweetwater listing? I could not find it.

The optional footswitch is midi. You can integrate the head with other midi equipment for switching control. This includes distortion, compressor, Kosmos, fx loop, and mute. We use the midi interface to program the backlighting. We may release the lighting control app.

Can you tell us about the power rating? 1000w at 4 ohms? 2 ohms?

The power rating is 1000w continuous on paper, but that's what it will do full sine wave. The measurable burst power output when playing music is 1500w...into 4 ohms.

Peavey is actually pretty awesome when it comes to posting info on products

Over the last 4 or 5 years, the difference between what the Peavey website says about Cirrus basses and what was actually happening/available has almost NEVER matched.

Hmmm. This thread has made me happy that I haven't bought a new amp yet. These new heads definitely have my interest! I've always liked Peavey gear, from the Cirrus basses I owned, to the Firebass head and 810tx cab I had years ago.

I like Peavey gear, too! This new Mega sounds really cool. If I didn't already have 5 complete rigs, including one 500W Class D amp, I would be seriously considering one of these. I'm definitely looking forward to reading some reviews and hearing some sound clips.

I had one too, man it was heavy. I guess in retrospect, everything was heavy. On a separate note, it would be cool if Peavey came out with a proper carrying case for these new mini amps. Something custom made is always better than something generic IMO.

I had to finally sell my beloved 410TVX USA cabinet. My 40th b-day I ruptured a disc in my back, and that's what started the hunt for light cabs and amps, which just so happened to be a great time for those types of amps. There were many to choose from. But not from peavey, with exception to a short lived Neo line of 410/210/115 cabs (of which I had), I was heading in a 112 and 212 direction. So I had to leave Peavey, and they had no mini heads either, so I had to stray after a decade of only using Peavey bass amps and cabs. Now if they can just get a 112/212 lightish cabinet out, I'd be set. I just picked up a used Hartke HX112 and I'm utterly blown away by it's volume level and tone. I have 3 other 212 cabs (Genz, Genz, TC), but the little 112 rocks. A nice 112 from Peavey to mate with the new mini Amps seems like a no brainer.

That's a pretty sweet looking unit there with a lot of tone options. I'm very interested.

The MiniMega actually has midi in!!! That's really unique, and could be fun to play with for sure. Using an iphone with a midi interface you could change patches and whatnot on the go. Or using the new IK bluetooth footboard, I bet you could do it that way.

And the built in tuner on the miniMax is most appreciated. I have no use for the 1-1/2 rack size Headliner amps, but I could see buying both of those mini's. Those are sweet.
