Thanks, DogBone! I agree, obviously. When you invest company resources to support old/discontinued products (like my beloved MegaBass), that shows that you are committed to your BRAND and HISTORY. A couple years back, I had the techs in Meridian recondition my Mega. They did a great job.

Oh yeah, they actually called me on my phone and talked to me about the unit. It's 25 years old!

Oh, we had an old 12 channel Peavey mixer for our band. I was able to order parts and fix it myself. Who helped me? The real person who answered the phone at Peavey.

I am so excited for Peavey and Bobby Baldwin. I think these new products will really give the boutique products a run for their money. My 1990 MegaBass is perfect--it's just big and heavy by today's standards. The MiniMega looks like the bar band KILLER! Can't wait for it!

I grew up on Peavey gear. These new units look nice. They aren't asking a gold nugget and your first born child for them like some other brands, either. Any pics of the cabs around? Plots? Specs? A new 1516 would be pretty cool. Kudos, Peavey, for stepping up.

I've never considered a Peavey bass head before but these have a very nice set of features and enough power to drive a large cab. Maybe these are new enough there aren't user manuals posted yet but I'd like to know more on how these 2 heads compare.
- Same power section rated 1000 wrms into 4 ohms. What are they rated into an 8 ohm load?
- What are the eq frequencies for low, mids, hi, and 7 band? Can't quite make them out from the pics.
- Both have the gain with crunch option. Sounds cool from the description but is it musical and useful?
- MiniMega has Kosmos bass enhancement. Headliner doesn't but has pre-shaped contour control.
- Headliner has an optical compressor with level and bypass controls. I like this and think it could be quite useful at times. Does MiniMega have the same compressor? If not, how is it different?
- How does the MiniMega punch button work?

For most people, the DSP feature will be great, with standard cabs without a lot of reach down deep and limited excursion it will be a benefit (along with as I mentioned, those with compact cabs that don't go deep). The fEARful cabs don't NEED that. I know because I've played with MaxxBass and my fEARfuls and my end conclusion was that I didn't need the 'psychoacoustics' to simulate deep lows when my cab actually had the capacity to provide deep lows.

On the other hand, a compact 1000/1500w amp with a semi-parametric mids would give many people the control they're looking for in a fEARful. I would think that the 'punch' has to be a low mid boost, would help those who feel that the fEARfuls lack in that visceral response in that area.

I would consider replacing my backup (LMII) with this amp. More power more flexibility and some tonal options and a good form factor.

Hopefully the Peavey dude can chime in here.

The old Peavey Tour 700 head also features KOSMOS, and it sounds like a regular sub octave generator (i.e. pretty much the opposite effect of a Waves Maxxbass).

From the Peavey Tour 700 web page:

OK, perhaps KOSMOS is just an octaver to increase sub bass, and the psychoacoustic enhancement is a separate feature (that has no name), which reduces sub bass? Peavey, you have confused me now!

It was the anti- demo!

This one has bumped both of my "time for a new head" choices. I was seriously thinking about the new Carvin BX700 head, but this is twice the power, with a much better warranty..... I think the two mid sweeps will be enough.
