Double Bass finish chip

Some of the finish seems to have chipped off on my carved bass. There is a little bit of bare wood showing. Do I need to do anything to reseal it, or can I just leave it? I'm not really worried about the cosmetics, I just don't know if it matters for the wood to be bare.

The only issue with a chip or nick other than the cosmetic one is that sometimes this injury will leave a "rough" spot on which it can catch. It can get worse if it rubs on things-ie the rug, floor, you.
Other than this, a small opening of bare wood is not a concern really.
