First Bass Ever. 62 Fender Jazz Reissue.

After 20 years of guitar GAS, I finally gave in and bought my first bass! I've always been a drummer/guitar player and have never even considered owning a bass guitar in my life. I have decided to jump into the fire and learn.

It was a close race between a mint green Musicman Stingray Classic and a Sonic Blue 1962 Fender Jazz Reissue.

After a significant price drop from Japan's Ishibashi Music and $875 later, a winner emerged.

So here, my new friends, is my new bass.

I have an MIA RI, but love the MIJ as well. Maybe Fender USA will release a sweet color like that as well someday. When you say price drop, did they negogiate with you or did the price happen to drop? I'm just curious if they haggle or not. MIJ isn't the bargain it used to be especially with shipping.

I emailed them back and forth for two days because their BIN price was $1090 with free shipping from Japan. I figured it was worth it to see if they would consider a best offer and they said that their BIN price was the lowest they could go. However, they offered a 10% discount off this bass today and as soon as I saw it, I hit BIN. It dropped the price to $980 and I also had another Ebay coupon for another 10% off anything. I used that to drop the price to $882. I also had Ebay bucks sitting around. Final price was $875 with free ship.

So I don't know if Ishibashi offered the 10% discount to move the guitar or if it was an Ebay thing. Either way, I guess it was worth bugging them about it.
