First blown bass speaker

I'm so far from the original post...so I'm going to throw this out there...
What condition is the speaker in...is the cone ripped? Or just just not producing sound? I'd bench test the speaker, pull it from the cab....the cone should move with minimal effort...and be silent...if you hear grinding, or it takes a bit of pressure for it to move (or won't move at al, or moves in only one direction)....then there is probably a misalignment somewhere. This will usually be found near the voice coil or where the magnet is glued to the basket. (Most commonly I've found the glue that holds the magnet has lost its effectiveness and the magnet has shifted, causing the cone to drop in the basket) This can be fixed, but depending on what other damage may be done....unless it's a vintage speaker, it's more cost effective to replace it. Always bench test new speakers before installing them too...who knows how hot they got while in transport and how many bumps they took. Anyway...maybe that helps or is relevant to the OP or anyone else reading this.

I would agree with that (although I do believe tdc to be a measure of the timing as well, with tdc being the first position of 4strokes the piston makes within the cylinder (intake, compression, ignition, exhaust)....to change direction within the same plane...there has to be a momentary stop, whether you call it tdc, full excursion or whatever limit to the plane you want to label it. In the case of internal combustion, the pistons are connected to a cam, which converts the energy from the explosion into rotational energy.
 
Exactly the same motion with change of direction is exhibited by a sine wave and a moving speaker.

Fortunately for all of us, the pistons are connected to the crankshaft to convert reciprocating motion into rotational energy. The cam shaft is used to control the valve train and sometimes the ignition and oil pump.
