First Build: SC5 Headless

Electronics are done. It's a tight fit around the controls.

Looks great, definitely want to hear her!

Thanks Kody, me too!
When I tested the functionality of the electronics the bass was only strung up with the B and G strings and they were tuned super low. All I did was run though the controls to make sure everything did what it was supposed too. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed. I think if you're a one string player who likes to tune down this isn't the bass for you. :D

Once I get it strung up with a new set of strings and give it a good setup it should sound much better.

One thing that did stand out was the lack of hum. Even with the treble knob max'd out, I didn't hear any hiss. I also didn't hear anything when the pickups were solo'd. I hate noise, so that made me feel good about the component selection.

Glad you figured it out! And FWIW, I've never loved any bass or guitar I've built, the first time I plugged it in. Usually takes me a few hours to go through it and get it dialed before the 'oh, there you are' kicks in.

It all looks great! I can't wait to see it strung!

Luckily you don't have to wait very long!

Other than putting on the missing concentric volume knob when it arrives (EMG supplies standard knobs for volume pots with their preamp, but were kind enough to offer to send me a concentric knob so everything would match, at no charge!), this one is DONE!

I will apologize in advance for the following pics. It's a nice day outside and I'm pretty stoked so I probably went a little overboard...

Admittedly, there were a few boo-boos that happened along the way, some of which are still visible. I can't wait to pick up where I left off on my second build to see if I can make it that much better.

These may get replaced at some point when my intonation gets better. They should give you a good idea of what the bass (in the hands of a poor player) sounds like. I recorded these with my iphone. I played through my GK MB-200 and Epifani S1 UL-110. The controls on the GK were set at 12:00.
