They're a really nice choice for a short scale. I've played quite a few examples in stores and they're always great feeling/sounding instruments for the money. But this autumn, my shortscale money is heading rapidly towards a Fender Rascal...

The pickups are different along with the wiring VVT compared to VVTT.
Amps and cabs are much better nowdays too.
i just got a 1969 Gibson EB0 and its a friggin beast. it chugs like no other. may or may not get another pickup installed near the bridge (sacrilege to do to a vintage instrument, i know... still want to do it anyway 
) but it really is an awesome piece. Sold me on short scales, probably will be the only sort of basses i'll get from this point onward.

The frets and neck are so clean & the action is super low with no fret buzz at all! The bass is light, you can jam on this all night with no shoulder ache!
I have read here on talkbass that gibson quality can be hit or miss? Having never owned a gibson before, i dont have a horse in this race, but i can tell you this, i cant find the slightest flaw in this bass! i beat guitar center down to $606.00 out the door! A beautiful gibson (usa) with hard case out the door for six bills, no brainer!!!
That's pretty sweet! It looks like the contours are pretty close to the 60's EBO/3 basses. I wonder how the neck compares?
Gratz on the Beatdown on Guitar Center I have had many issues with the Guitar Center out here in Vegas, I purchased a warlock bass and a GK head and 410 cab when I went to leave they told me that they didn't have a case to fit the lock, so I told them to order me a Coffin Case and I paid extra for it. forward 4 weeks no case, I called Coffin Case myself and the dude looked in the computer and gave me the part number for the case I needed. I called the guitar center that I dropped my 1500.00 at and had them look up the part number on the case, and they had it in stock the whole time!
Ever sense that day I Have been buying all of my gear from Sam Ash They have always treated me right, and have never had a problem with haggling over prices I have spent probably 4000.00 with them since I quit going to guitar center!
