A piece of a toothpick, elmer wood glue and paitence overnight is all you need to fix that. 
I've had people bring in basses that the screw got threaded incorrectly into the insert (and of course, tthey tried to force the screw in) and they had too pull the whole insert out and it had to be re-installed.
I know a few people that have cracked their neck heels installing the inserts incorrectly.
Again, I see no benifit besides being different from the norm.
