First impressions: Valenti 5 string

Are you cutting your own nuts or are you getting them preinstalled from Warmoth?.

And I might add that he does a fantastic job cutting and slotting the nut. It looks as good as the nut on the Pedulla I used to own, and the one on my Zon.

How would you compare this bass to the ones you have in your stable OR even a Sadowsky or Ken Smith? Does is it have the same depth in tone does it cut as well? Inquiring minds want to know?

I missed your first post.

The fit & finish on this bass is outstanding, at any price point. I have seen some $5000+ basses that weren't as well made as this one, and yet I have seen some $1000 basses that come pretty close.

I hope to hook up with a local Sadowsky owner while I have the bass and let him compare it to his 2 Sadowskys. I will compare it too, but his input will weigh pretty heavily, since he has owned Sadowsky basses for quite a while.

This is my headstock design. For 5 string, I've deceided to use the 4+1 as standard and the 5 inline if someone requests it.

If you would like me to use your own parts, like jja412, I'm OK with that, too

Nino, could a customer ask for threaded inserts if he/she wanted them?

Personally, I don't see any benifits to having a threaded insert as opposed to a screw going into the wood.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that wood wears out over time. An insert won't, though theoretically you could strip it (or the screw) over time if you aren't careful. Inserts have a smoother feel and more elegant look.
