So my Eden 800 (A) finally crapped out on me minutes into some basement practice this evening after 2 or more years of steady playing with zero problems. I bought it used and it was probably a year or two old at the time so I'd estimate it is 4-5 years old (can't remember what year but I know it is written on the back.) Anyway, I started to hear fizzling cracking sounds as notes decayed so I switched basses and the problem was still there. Then the lights on the Eden blinked and it cut out completely. I turned it off, unplugged everything, turned it back on without any basses plugged in, cranked the Gain and Volume all the way up to listen to it. Nothing out of the ordinary. Turned it all off and called my gear expert friend who said it sounds like a blown preamp tube or two. He said he'd look at it and then I could take it in to a shop for repair. So I'm taking it to his house next week. Fortunately no gigs until July 27th so I have at least a couple weeks. He started describing how to take the amp apart myself, describing the inner parts. When he said "Be careful with those..they can kill you" I decided to leave the tinkering to the experts.
