First Real Gig

This Saturday I am playing my first non-PW gig! :bassist:

Its at a small bar that doesn't usually have a crowd of its own but we should have a lot of friends coming.

The show is from 9:00 - 12:00 pm and I have to play for the PW band at 8:30 the next morning lol, that will be interesting.

Wish me luck!

Hi,

Yes, I've done that in the past. I don't like to play out with my secular band the night before I play in church but sometimes it happens. If I'm too fatigued I feel I may not be able to give God my best worship music effort so I try to arrange my schedule accordingly. I have to be at church at 7:00am after playing until 1:00am. Somehow, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I pull it off but I always have to take a nap in the afternoon. (Getting old isn't for wimps.) :p

Break a leg on your gig. Have fun and be a light.

I started playing piano and singing in my Dad's church in 1967. My first real gig (on guitar then) was a high school dance in 1970. My first bar gig (after switching to bass) was a place in downtown Bakersfield called "Michael's" in 1976. I've been working a day job and playing music ever since. This weekend I'm playing on the worship team. Next weekend my band is at Gilley's in Las Vegas. Let's be "in the world, not of the world".

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Massive +1

Extremely well said and fantastic advice.

I find that I can personally worship God more outside of a worship music setting because I dont have to worry about offending anybody with my playing style and can just focus on playing for God.
