Yeah, it's 3:30am and woke up earlier.
Watching the Ken Burns Jazz series on DVD and it just flashed on me the very first recorded tune I heard was this song by this legend. I think I might have been just about 2 years old and was on our phonograph player. Yeah, it might be corny to some of you, but it's still one of most upbeat and happy ones to me. That and he's just a great trumpet player. Any others have a way back one to post this day?
Two of my oldest memories around recorded music was listening to "Dream On" by Aerosmith. I could never sit still and I remember being awestruck by the gong hit at the end.
The second was riding a car with my mother and the song "Touch Me" by The Doors coming on the radio. My mother was swooning over Jim Morrison's voice and the lyric "I'm gonna love you til the heavens stop the rain/ I'm gonna love you til the stars fall from the sky"
I was probably around 2 or 3 for each of these.
