First song you ever played on stage?

For me: Phantom of the Opera ... and I fumbled it pretty badly, but somehow got through to the end. That was a long, long time ago, but still a big learning experience.

Anyone else tried something a little too ambitious for their first stage performance?

That is a tricky one, especially during the first part where it goes from the regular riff, to the intro riff, then back to the regular riff. Hell, I still can't really play that intro riff on time for the life of me.

With bass guitar in my High School Days I think maybe it was "Dreaming You" by Heatwave.. I might be wrong tho..

Before play bass I was a keyboardist/vocalist first in my band.. It was "Centerfold" by J. Geils Band we played at prompt night in my 9th grade..

Actually far before that, in my Elementary School days I was playing Double Bass too (stand on a chair hahaa).. But I forgot the song we played on the stage.

Ironically I never play Double Bass again since then...

That's going back a ways-I think it was some nameless Jr. High Jazz Band tune I've long forgotten at the Castleberry High School Jazz Festival in Ft. Worth, TX. That's got to be 1971, so I'll excuse myself if the Memory Bank doesn't work as well as it once did.
I'm sure it was played through my Gibson Thor 2x10 bass amp with my Kalamazoo Mother of Particleboard EB-0 copy and I'm pretty sure I was wearing a brushed corduroy pair of purple bell bottoms (Chess King's finest!) and some granny glasses as I tried to channel Roger McGuinn of The Byrds.
One vivid memory I have is that the fuse blew on the bass amp and our band director put some tinfoil from a gum wrapper around the fuse and I made it though our 2-3 tunes.
The first "Rock Band" song on stage was likely Badge by Cream.

I don't count my elementary school performance because, well, I have no idea what I played.

My first song was an original that the guitarist wrote which I also sang. 'Up & Down'. It sucked. We played a 6 song set and got a tepid response from the crowd of 12 (including us).

hmm.. it Plush** (STP) or Whatshername** (green day) at a high school variety show. cant remember which i did first. either way, i was terrified.

the next year was much more ambitious. Stare at the Sun* (thrice), a 3 man rendition of Wish You Were Here**, an original with my band, and Broken** (seether) as a duet. we closed the night with a giant open reggae jam.

phoned it in the last year with 2 or 3 originals from the same band, Swing Life Away* (rise against) and filled in on guitar for a cover of Heart Full of Soul.

and somehow i didnt get most musically inclined in the high school superlative. hmph
