We do have some great opportunities here in WNY. I've been to Erie twice already this year. Pure fun!
Don't think I posted the 38 lb from the fall. No such luck this season but just getting started.

My brother and I have been competing to see who would be the first this year to bag a 20"+ largemouth bass. He won yesterday. I was busy hauling in crappies (10 fish between 9 and 12 in.) and he was trying to catch a big northern pike and hooked this nice bucketmouth instead.

Went out to a local reef a few miles off the beach on Sunday. We live lined bunker and my good friend Paul caught this nice 20 lb. specimen. You're right Pete, it has been tough round here lately. We are fishing the Duke of Fluke tourney next weekend. You around?

One boat from our club came back with a 183lb. mako on Sunday too. Starting to heat up offshore. I will let you know when/if bass picks up around JI and west again. Hoping to go out Thursday. Waves 1-3.

Locally, I've been fishing for bass and panfish but next weekend, I leave for the Range of Light to do some alpine, Golden/Rainbow hybrid fishing! 
Ray. Apparently there are decent body of fish around gilgo now. I've had a delay in getting the Bert ready so I've just been fishing the bay with the small boat.
Thanks Pete. Lots of bunker around here to the west like last year, but not a lot of bass or blues around them.
My friend fished montauk on a charter on Sunday and came back with 30 blues only. That's bait for shark fishing this month. We have Hudson Anglers and the Woodcleft tourney in the next few weeks.

Tomorrow, or more accurately at 3:00am tomorrow morning, I leave for a 4-day backpacking trip to John Muir's "Range of Light" to stalk Golden and Rainbow trout, bag a peak or two, and engage in general shenanigans. I'll report back!

Jealous of everything about this post....except for the 3AM wake up call.
The trip was absolutely awesome. Unfortunately, the trout in that area were a bit scrawny. This was one of the bigger ones.
However, what they lacked in size, they made up for in beauty and attitude.
At any rate, it was quality fishing with unreal scenic beauty. Even though I'm a mediocre fly fisherman, I felt like a hero! Here's the scene of epic evening dry fly action.
I actually got up at 2:30am...it sucked very much!

I went out night before last for rockfish and we landed one 24 incher. Had rockfish nuggets last night spiced with Jamaican curry powder and Old Bay. Awesome.
We also anchored in what was evidently a cow nosed ray party. We could not keep them off the line. They got in the way of catching rockfish, but they fight like mad and blew the kids' minds. Here's a random pic of one....I didn't take any.

Just got back from Lake Ontario with my club. We had 24 members on the troll this weekend. It was a blast. Great fishing was had by all. Someone even caught an Atlantic salmon. Hot spoon on Sunday was the Sea-Sick Waddler. You just can't make this stuff up!

We've been hammering the Rockfish in the Chesapeake lately. Trolling season is over so it's mainly bottom fishing. Going out again this afternoon, I'll try to take pics.
Great flounder fishing in Ocean City, MD recently. We also rounded up a bucket full of mussels, steamed them with some shallots, tomatos, garlic, and chardonnay - awesome.
I need to go crabbing soon. I've had plenty this summer, but haven't harvested my own yet. Too busy..

My band has a permanent gig at an annual fishing derby. There's always one other band too, so we can take turns.... one plays, the other fishes.

Very rare to catch an Atlantic in Lake O... I hope you released it as there is a real push on this side of the border to get the Atlantics back. They are indigenous to the lake, while Chinies and Cohoe and Bows for that matter are not.
Looks like I'm heading out on Lake Ontario for Satuday morning... a "quick" run out 13 miles, into the "blue zone"... always a blast!

The Atlantic was released. Our club was informed of the status and we did not even play "catch and release" with any other species, even after our limit. It really was great fishing and not something we get to experience down here on the ocean. The spoon names just cracked me up.

Hey fellas been a while since I have been on here, been absolutely flat out with work lately.
Took my little boat out for a couple of days fishing and done pretty well catching flathead, an endemic and iconic Australian table fish. Basically a flat fish that can grow up to about 25lb but are more common at much smaller sizes. The last time I went out, we bagged out on flathead which was great. The weather forecast that day was for 5 knot winds, but something must've changed as a 30 knot northerly came up and was blowing against the tide. The ride back in my 12 foot runabout was white knuckle with waves crashing over the windscreen.
Get back to the ramp and find a 3 foot long crack in the hull, boat is basically a throw away now. It will cost more to fix the damage than I would get for the boat, motor and trailer. But not all is bad, when I found out I could upgrade cheaply to a 15 footer and get a bigger, newer motor whilst making a profit on my motor's re-sale, my wife gave me the nod to make the purchases.
Fishing (big gamefishing at that) and bass, my wife is pretty good
