baba,
If you want to come and have the opportunity at catching gamefish in Australia, we finally built our own custom fitted out trailerboat. 22 foot, 250hp 2 stroke motor for plenty of speed (38 knots on it's trial, and only ran on 4 of it's 6 cylinders), 100 gallon capacity and totally fitted out for big gamefishing, we use 30 and 50lb test so you won't get too sore. Just let me know when you are here and I am sure I could get you a spot. If we can't fish on that, there is always my mates 36 foot Rivera
Like I said previously, the gamefishing this season has been absolutely unbelievable. A crewmate is jumping onboard a large flybridge boat in a few days to run the decks for a 2 week fishing expidition 1000 miles north of here, and he is getting paid for it. He is expecting to see 500lb+ Blues, smaller 100-150lb Blacks and plenty of Mahi Mahi. All whilst fishing during winter for these typically 'summer' species. It's got alot to do with the East Australian Current running very hard this season and keeping the warm water further south.
I believe that Australia is THE best gamefishing destination in the world, especially in regards to Marlin. Hawaii is known for being a giant blue marlin spot, but I don't think it is as good as Cairns is for the Giant Black Marlin season from August-November. Boats frequently report catching Black Marlin over 800lb as well as numerous reports every week of boats tagging and releasing 1000lb+ giants. And then there is the ret of the east coast, which generally enjoys catching Marlin in the 150-700lb range.
Anywhoo, here is a picture of that trailerboat I mentioned waaay back in my first paragraph. It is setup to catch plenty of big fish!!
Cheers,
Jordan
