The Eleclady was really nice on bass when I had it. I didn't really hear an appreciable difference between it and the EHX Mistress. Ultimately I preferred the tones of my TC SCF set to flange, but for the price and the small footprint, it is tough to beat the Eleclady.

Cool...I was thinking of getting one. I do dig the swirling flanger sounds that it provides. my brother got me a mooer lo-fi machine and it's a pretty cool sounding bit-crusher pedal. not really an effect I use all the time, but it is a fun pedal to mess around with.

Maybe Mooer didn't want to get in trouble with EH for having a clone named too similar to the "electric mistress", but then again EH doesn't seem to mind when their older Muff circuits are clone with similar names so maybe its because it's easier to pronounce?

Flanger is cool, but I prefer chorus when it comes to modulation.

I'd buy a Mooer copy before another EH! The EH "mistress" I had was all weird, it didn't work right and made ultra loud feedback type noise that was bad enough I had to emergency shut off my whole rig at a show, got EH to fix it and within weeks the same thing only worse. ... I thought my speakers were gonna go, really!!

Weird...I would assume that the feedback might of been caused by the color control cranked up. that control usually controls the resonance of the flanger. was the color control turned up when you had it? I actually am currently running two flangers on my bass board in my current band. I have a zero point and an ADA (new pedalboard friendly). One before and one after a fuzz. The zero point is very subtle, very controlled almost frozen chorus-like sound that you can 'move' with the activator. The ADA is as wild or tame as you want it to be and I use it for punctuation and strange sounds.

Weird...I would assume that the feedback might of been caused by the color control cranked up. that control usually controls the resonance of the flanger. was the color control turned up when you had it? It didn't matter what setting I used, it was crazy !! It was fine for a few weeks then back to making crazy speaker blowing feedback!?

I wasn't gonna get it fixed again so I did the humane thing and threw it in the trash(so nobody else would risk blowing their speakers up)...

It isn't noticeable in the song, but you can hear it in the isolated track.

Plain old chorus and flangers aren't as popular on bass as they used to be. Players are all into delays and reverbs these days.
I use an EHX Electric Mistress DLX, which has both. Its a neat pedal and I used it on one of my band's "Signature" songs, so I stick to it. Delay\echo\reverb seems boring anyway.

Pitch Change
As you play around with flanging effects, you'll probably notice how faster rates of delay change result in funny warbling pitch variations in the signal. As the delay goes from longer to shorter, you'll hear a sort of Doppler shift up in pitch. When the sweep reverses, you'll hear the reverse Doppler shift as the delay "moves away from you". It proves to be fairly easy to harness this effect of a varying pitch from a varying delay into a decent real time pitch change algorithm.

If you haven't used flanger effects on bass, you should give it a shot. personally I think it pretty unique. it hasn't in recordings a lot, but there are a few songs that uses flanger effects on bass like them bones by alice in chains and 46 & 2 by tool. check out my post here at #47 to hear the isolated bass track of them bones.

Indeed it is fine. and it does give me that sound. really fun pedal to use on bass.

Mine too. I like using modulation effects on bass. it adds more flavor to my sound. especially when I use distortion with it.

got the Boss BF-2B ... i'm digging it. biggest mistake was the MXR MicroFlange. the volume boost went from jamming to ..."HEY GUYS! I'M HERE EATING EVERYTHING IN THE ROOM! YOU MAY WANT TO TURN EVERYTHING UP TO 12...11 ISN'T GOING TO CUT IT"

I have had some flangers before... MXR Flanger (old one), Boss BF-3, Onerr... And then: i got Vortex. It works. All i can say. No low end loss and a bit of boost in my toneprint. So sweet...

I have noted a bit of an obsession with getting the "exact" sound when in reality unless you have the exact same gear you are unlikely to acheive it. Even then, it comes down to technique, strings etc.
