FLANGERS!

Hey, one more question about Hartman: is it possible to get these fake sitar sounds with it?
In the Filter mode, yes. I'm going to assume that the Barracuda can do that as well, never tried it but as far as I know plugging in an expression pedal overrides the sweep, so that would produce a similar result. I suppose anyhow.

770 currently Fo' Sale fo' those interested. [/fried Spam]

I traded the Frost Bite for the Hartman, and there was much rejoicing. Oh sure, it is a pretty spiffy flanger, definitely out there, but once the newness of the freakout tones wore off, I realized that honestly it's not all that great for bass. The normal flanger tones were too subtle, and the oddity endeavours killed all the low end. It was fun for a few noise jams though.

I know you didn't ask it, but I'll say it anyway: the EHX Stereo Electric Mistress can also do a pretty sitar-y sound in filter matrix mode, especially when combined with delay, and even more so with a bit of octave up. If you set a wah pedal before the flanger and keep it parked toe-down, that's icing in the cake.

I gotta record a clip of that stuff sometime.

Hartman is a clone of Electric Mistress.

Yes, you should!

oops. didn't know that.
[edit] why are they even cloning a relatively common and inexpensive pedal, anyway? any added functionality?
Yes, you should!
There ya go:
First experiment

Bear with me, as I just got the fretless bass this month, the ebow this week, and I know jack s*t about eastern scales (heck, I barely know the western ones), quarter tone notes and whatnot.

The Hartman is based on the old vintage Electric Mistress apparently, and has all kinds of fancy whizbang NOS parts and such. I don't know the specifics but I do know it sounds amazing. Also, I think it is hilarious that some of my favourite pedals are EHX clones yet I have never so much as plugged into anything made by the originators themselves. Sometimes I can't tell if I'm a tone snob or just bad at math.

Cool clip.

Nad,
Your pedal collection is reeetarded. I just can't keep up with you anymore. We're breaking up, and that's final.
Don't Leave Me Now / Why You Runnin' Away / etc. :D

You're right though, my pedal collection is extremely schizophrenic. I think I have a common law marriage with half my basses, but the pedals are definitely my ladies of the night.

But it was so huge and it looked really cool on your small board...

I guess you're not going to be checking out the Airplane flanger then? It's pink. No?

Matt.

Well if it is pink then... :D

I bugged whosits about his Montgomery Flanger a little while ago, he said "I'm not going to make any for now, but check out the new Ibanez one!" It does look pretty cool, but I think I've outflanged myself at this point. I definitely understand why some pollute their britches with delight over A/DA style flangerizining though.
