Flare or bell bottom jeans

I saw an article in motortrend mag the other day with hipsters sitting around in tight skinny pants, posing in a 70's theme room/garage. Nobody wore pants like this back in the seventies. It was all bells then flares from 1968-1980. It became "hip to be square" again when Reagan took office in 1980.

Except for punks and New Wavers who wore them from around 77or so (like myself, I remember having to take jeans to a tailor to make them narrower. Flares went out around mid 70s IIRC.

I remember bells being popular up until about 76, then things narrowed down to flares till around 80. That was my experience around my neck of the woods, anyway. I never cared a bit for the punk scene, was into southern rock even in through the nasty 80's. Lol

Skynyrd band pic circa 1977. Look at the size of those bell bottoms.
