Hi everyone, I'd like to try a set of flats for my MIM Fender Jazz, or my medium scale Epiphone Viola if anyone has any...hate to spend the money when I'm not sure if I'll like them or not! Happy to pass them on when I'm done...

Hey guys, glad to see this is still going. As far as purpose, I thought it would be a great way for people to have a way of trying out good strings for free before paying a bunch.

And as far as people complaining that its too much trouble to comb through a thread in order to save $20-$60 on a set of strings. Well, in my mind its time well spent.

As far as organizing the effort here, I don't have time to keep a running list of who has what. I think people are subscribed to this thread, so post and you'll get a reply.

Right now I have no strings to offer up, but I will say that I started with Fender flats, 9053L's and I like them. I now have 3 sets. 2 used, one new.

I tried some TI flats on another bass. They felt nicer than the Fenders, but not nice enough to plunk down the money, especially since I just bought these Fenders.

What a great idea! I would be interested in trying a set of flats on my Fretless Squier Jazz that I just bought, (and maybe on my fretted Squier Jazz). Most interested in GHS, DR, or Chromes. But consider any.

I just picked up a set of Jazz Flats last night - I haven't put 'em on yet, but I've got a set as a spare, so - I now have a set of D'Addario Chromes in super-light gauge (40-90) to offer, if somebody is interested. PM if you'd like me to send them to you. Continental states and Canada is fine. They've been on a Precision and are in pretty decent shape.


Edit: ...aaand the super-light Chromes are spoken for.

I was actually hoping to find some light gauge flats,...but when I saw your post....decided I should check my private messages first to make sure no one was already holding a set for me.................your set got away while I was checking...crud.

I have an old 5 string set of Carvin flats that I don't use if anyone wants them. They were on a 34" scale Carvin so they won't fit any longer scales.

Well, I was unsuccessful at getting any of the flats offered on the last go round. I actually had one poster agree to send me a set of chromes.....but he lived in Canada....and I never got them.....he guessed some guy at the border crossing was now gigging with his strings.

Any sets that werent spoken for when this thread first started?

I would be especially interested in some Jazz Flats or, as they dont seem to come up very often,....almost anything else. I would like to try a couple of sets,...one on my fretless and one on my fretted bass.

SI have a Sadowsky B string. I have a set of Roto flats not the S Harris. I also have a set of TI flats. They've been on and off 5 times and don't look great but sound wonderful. Do these count for 2? Cut for Fender.

I'm looking for Sadowsky, Pyramid, GHS or any traditional flat that makes a deep thump without a lot of tension.

I have a set of Fender 9050M flats to throw into the ring (0.055, 0.070, 0.090, 0.105). I've had 'em a year or two and it looks like the G made it out the the package once. The other 3 have never been around a tuner.

I had 2 sets of these. I remember them being a bit brighter than the GHS Precision Flats I usually use.

First PM with a US mailing address gets 'em.
