I would recommend trying something different. Like Curt Mangan fusion matched SS hybrid flats.

Flatwound recommendations for a 51P RI

I just put a set of set of TI Jazz Flats on my Jazz with the SCN pups. FAN- TASTIC!
However, the TIs are more lower mids. For the low end thump sound that you want, you are right - LaBella 760's with a foam mute near the bridge.

I like the sound clips of the GHS precisions... GHS don't do a 50 G string? Maybe I should find tension charts and consider the 55-105 gauge. Hoping the 105 will fit through the body. (Anyone??)
Fenders sound good too and I prefer the gauges 50-100. A lot of posters are a bit put off by their tension. hmmm.
Labellas will be out I'm afraid.... unless I replace the bridge.
