Florida Bassists Club

Yes..................yes it would. Although I seem to have no trouble finding work in the area. Its almost like there aren't any bassists left here in the area.

Good to hear your working. I have a good friend that used to gig in the WPB area and now he lives up in Jupiter. He gigs regularly with a special occasion/corporate/lounge act. I made my comment from a Miami-Dade Co perspective and the truth is I'm not out there looking for gigs down here, but I do know that the live music scene here is lousy. I can't see anyone making a living out of it here, you have to go north to your area or maybe south to the Keys and that wouldn't be pretty for a starving artist considering what it costs to live or stay down there. I still love living here for other reasons;)

nah, I missed it too. I talked to someone who went and they said a couple guys kept buggin him to play amazing grace and he told them to go watch it on you tube. hahaha

I made it to the clinic. It really was worth it. It was about 3.5 hours long and he really is an excellent teacher. I've been to several different clinics before and, to be honest, this was the only one that I ever felt I learned anything. My wife came along with me, who has a degree in music (vocal performance) and she said it was by far the best and most informative master class she has ever been to. I thought that was interesting considering she has been to dozens.

Honestly, I could not recommend this clinic enough. If he ever gets to your area, go. It was really amazing to hear his outlook on music. He was an extremely nice guy and he really was a pleasure to listen to. He entertained the annoying, even stupid questions.

Here are a couple of pics from it:

The white guy playing with him is Jaco Pastorius's nephew. He was quite a good player as well.

Uh, not to be rude, but I know theres plenty of lessons available online. There are FAQ's and free links to awesome lessons already stickied on this website.. maybe you guys should check those out. I've searched for some bass teachers and not much comes up... In my 5 years of playing, before moving to orlando i found a really good teacher and in 4 lessons learned so much.. unfortuneately I had to move.

anyways.. BTW anyone in south florida looking for a really good bass teacher look up Colgan Bryan, hes in pembrooke pines i think.
