Fodera Club Part III

Hi guys I got my 93er Emperor in my comfortable home for a few days now and wow... what a bass!
Its pretty beaten up but when playing it you forget the cosmetics immediately. It's the best bass I played and I played many basses up till now.
Its 36' has 20 mm string spacing a gorgeous carved necktrough design with a really nice and thin neck that plays like butter.
It such a nice bass I'm even hasitating if I will clean it up at some point (refinnish plus some other pups) cos somehow I'm scared to ruin the soul this bass has somehow:smug:
And by the way those haz preamps are totally great! very transparant wich I wasnt expecting at all.

Anyways discovered that my bass has a gold truss-cover and have never seen any of these covers on other older fodera's on this forum or anywhere else for that matter does that mean something???

Hi,
I posted a small pix of my first Fodera. Here are some more to share. I simply love it on every point and it is a VERY challenging instrument.
Again, just like to thank Jason and all at Fodera for the great ideas and crafmanship

For all you Fodera fans, here is my buddy Tommy Kennedy in a really nicely recorded live clip playing his signature Fodera (nice bass... VERY lightweight, reduced Emperor II body size, and the neck pickup moved closer to the bridge pickup than normal, although he typically solo's the bridge pickup when playing).

There aren't many high quality recordings of Tommy on Youtube, but this one is just perfect, and really communicates Tommy's live tone well (notice he is now a Markbass artist, after the Ampeg artist relations thing kind of folded when St. Louis Music was purchased a couple of years ago).

Anyway, enjoy... killer solo and a beautiful, punchy, growly, burpy bridge pickup tone!

The pull-off move he introduces around 1:52 is very hip. Good stuff all around -- a GREAT player.

Tom's tone is cool but 'm not a fan of his solos. They seem to be always structured the same way and kind of just meander along not really saying much with no real melodic content. Not intending to offend, it's just what I hear. I do really like his bass playing. I greatly prefer the DVD of Stern with Tom to the one with Bona.

I agree. A lot of notes! Still pretty amazing for what it is, and if you slow it down, his playing is a bit more melodic than you would think... it just goes by FAST:D

Anyway, posted up more for the Fodera guys to see one in action, played by one of the original Fodera customers.

Wow, He is Wonderful bass player.(and Wonderful bass)
I got info of his signature bass on Fodera Web site.
They descrided Ash body with ebony but phtos of his bass show alder body. What is his body woods?
Is it right?

Alder or Ash Body(?)
Alder Heel Block.
Maple 3piece neck and Indian Ebony Fingerboards,
Dualcoil PUs (duncan or aero?) located custom spacing.
Mike pope 3band.

Tom Kennedy's playing is great but his solo on the minor blues gets to busy sometimes. Nice Fodera sound!

Here is my take on minor blues with a very Stern fan guitar player. But he is still amazing :)

I also tend to be a bit busy too :)

Hey Jason,
I was wondering if you could give some more in site (and more pictures) of the Fodera built for Me'shell Ndegeocello. I saw that it was mentioned on another Fodera thread and from what I saw in the picutres it's nothing like I've ever seen from Fodera.

On a side note...heres the top I chose for my Fodera coming in October 2010!!!!
I tweaked the specs a bit from last time and here is what its finally going to be:

Compact Emperor 5 string
Brazilian Rosewood Board - (New Stash)
Alder Body
Seymour Duncan Single Coils
Black Hardware
34 inch
Bolt On

I can't contain my excitement :hyper:

Me'shell's Fodera was made to be an extremely compact bass. It is 30.75" scale and its body shape is actually based on a mirror image of the lower horn of the Monarch...
