This bass was a direct order and one of a number of old orders where the players waited WAY TOO LONG. We continue to work through all orders sequentially and are making really good progress at getting instruments to folks with old orders. Presently a new order should be complete in approximately 22-24 months...

Remember, as amazing as it sounds, Fodera only implemented a production schedule with defined, scheduled production start dates just this past October (as part of our new partnership). By and large it is going very, very well...a little slower than we anticipated, but nothing like the days of deadlines missed by months at a time (in some cases years)!

The one thing that has not changed is the fanatical desire to make the very finest basses humanly possible. During my first seven months involved as Vinny and Joey's partner, EVERY time we have been faced with a decision that involved choosing a way to do something -- the quick way or the best way for the instrument -- we have chosen the path that would result in the finest instrument. Since we are working with 100% natural and/or handmade materials, these decisions DO slow things down sometimes and cause some very, very long work hours as we try to stay on schedule AND produce instruments at the very highest possible level of quality.

I guess what I am saying is that when building instruments at this level, when staying on schedule conflicts with instrument quality, we will ALWAYS choose building a better instrument...

As one of those who waited "WAY TOO LONG" on a direct order I feel a bit justified in adding some appreciation of Jason's comments here. With the onset of the new partnership I started to receive updates from the shop instead of having to chase for them periodically. I also began to get asked about production decisions and got the sense that something really was happening to bring my bass to fruition at long last. Customer service!

I also concur absolutely on decisions regarding instrument quality. Throughout the build I'd spoken several times to Vinny about the particular challenges my bass was presenting. His suggestions and responses always carried weight from an artistic and aesthetic perspective, as well as from a performance angle. Everything was measured and considered in terms of the whole instrument. That still seems to be very much the case, and I noticed that quite often there would be a team consensus offered, with Jason getting input from Vinny and Joey as well as adding his own thoughts. Even at the very last, due to pick up the bass Friday I got a call from Jason to say that the spalted maple was soaking up the finish more than expected. They wanted to put extra coats of finish on and would really like to give the finish extra curing time over the weekend. Could I pick up Monday instead of Friday? After such a hugely long wait, to be so close but yet still not quite there was agonizing. But they wanted to get everything just right, and I think they did! Thank you, guys, for an astonishing instrument!

I was not asking about the delivery times to blame somebody !!! I was just wondering if an instrument with the top wood also on the back etc. would last longer to built.....
