We are waiting for a custom made part that Mike is having made for his bass...it allows the Bridge PUP to change position on the fly. Once that is in house, we need about another 4 weeks and then the bass should be good to go!

In terms of Vic's bass, he and Vinny worked out some of the final details in the late spring / early summer and the build slot is coming up this Winter. Vic's original build slot was in April, but due to his travel schedule he and Vinny could not sit down face to face to discuss some of the details in time to work on the bass when it was originally scheduled...

Hallo guys!

I live in Cape Town, South Africa, and I doubt that we've got a Fodera over here, but I'd loooove the experience one!

I've got a question about having a bass commissioned. Say I want a bass that looks exactly like Matt Garrison's Chestnut Burl Fodera but just has "standard specs" in terms of scale length etc, would I be able to have an Imperial Elite built and just have the lower horn/cutaway shaped to mimic that of Matt's bass, or would I have to use Matt's base model as the starting point?

For me, buying Matt's base model would in effect mean paying $2000 extra just to have a different cutaway?

Cool! What are Wooten's Wood specs for his new bass?

Since we had a discussion about Eucalyptus pretty recently...here is a slightly different variety with a more Maple-looking color. However, the figure is a lot deeper and 3 dimensional than what we generally see in Maple. This bass has NOT had it final rub-out and wax yet...

Years ago. I can't say I'd go that route ever again, and I wouldn't suggest it. It was from a reputable seller that specifically sells exotic wood though. I've personally found tops for two basses now. I like having a part in that, but it's risky. The last one cost me way more than it should've because I had to buy more wood than I needed. I'll never use the rest of what I got. Again, I wouldn't do it that way again. Trust your luthier. Let them know what you're looking for and trust that they'll find it for you.

A question regarding strings...to anyone that has experience with both types as offered by fodera.
I am wondering how you would describe the difference between round core strings and the hex core ones, in terms of tone ,feel and response to touch if given the same gauges and scale length with the only difference being the core on which the strings are wound.
