Man I have tried to talk him out of this for over two years!! Actually I was successful until recently...the reality is that Joey just loves the Ash / Maple vibe and that is his tone...like I said in the auction write-up, this bass has one of the finest 5-string necks I have ever felt...it is the prototype that was used for many subsequent "thin / fast" 5-string Fodera necks and was the shape that my own personal 5er was based on.

COMPLETELY agree which is why he is selling (and why I stopped arguing with him not to). Truth be told, I will be culling my Monarch heard for the same reason as soon as I get around to it!
if anyone else needs to "cull the herd" . . . i'm looking for a mid-to-late 80s 6-string with walnut body and ebony fingerboard 3-piece neck and double truss rod.
i have a primo 1991 6-string string lined fretless with mahogany body and ebony fingerboard 3-piece neck and single truss rod. that i'd trade for it.

Seriously... nice. I look forward to hopefully getting a shot at one. I miss my old Monarch 4 and would love to snag another one at a "used" cost.
Jason - Any word on these Fodera Single coils? Compared to Seymour Duncan and Aeros.

Measured at the bridge, my Emperor 4 string Deluxe, Koa top/Alder body/Maple back, comes in at 1.75".
