Pretty much my dream bass right here (aside from the neck / toneblock woods)

Hi Jason,

An understanding wife is a man's greatest treasure.

Just had to tease you about the house, but well done. On a serious note; What are the do's and don't s for storage of so many instruments; will you adopt a constant temperature in the room using central heating or other means, employ humidifiers and what is the ideal temperature?

Do you like to have most of your collection out on stands or just a selection that your currently digging.

I had one of my basses in it's dedicated case for about a year, took it out and it was perfect apart from a little corrosion at the bridge; adjustment springs and screws were a little encrusted but everything else was fine, but I learnt my lesson and I regularly rotate the basses with no bass staying in a case for longer than a few weeks. Space is a major factor for alot of people, especially those with ever growing collections.

So if it turns out you like the Skjolds and they're keepers; your still going to dive-off the top board and come up with a Fodera?
So what do you have planned?

I'm thinking of a MG with 33 scale. I know Richard Bona didn't like 33 scale. Is it only in my head or is there a big different between the two scales?

Hi Hou,

I never thought I'd deviate from 34" to 33", but I had the pleasure of playing a 33" MG5, 19mm spacing. It fit so well that it was agony putting down and walking out of the store without it. To really seal the deal, I have been experiencing left-hand wrist problems for some years now, and two months ago I injured my left shoulder (being overzealous at the gym). After 4 sessions with a physio, I've been told that I may need surgery if there's no improvement in the next 3/4 sessions. So..not only was a 33" comfortable, it's now a necessity. That said, I'd love to play a 36" just to feel the shear authority that it lends.

In both my old home and this one I store them in their cases upright on a rack except for the 2-3 that I am playing at any given time. I keep both the temperature and humidity fairly constant, that is between 65 and 70 degrees and 34-55% humidity. That is pretty much optimal for stringed instrument storage...

The biggest things to avoid are the extremes (hot/cold, damp/dry) and rapid changes in either temperature or humidity...generally if you are comfortable your basses will be too!

My budget is diving off the top board as I type...just spent a chunk rebuilding my home studio in prep for a new album.

The bass that intrigues me the most is a 33" scale Garrison.

Ive pondered the ES5 and some other possibilities. We'll see how things play out. Right now my fortune cookie says, "patience will be rewarded" :D

So whatcha got under your sleeve for a top..something really fancy? Well..as Foderaholics I feel I can share with you that I've
been having special counselling sessions for "Exotic top Disorientation". Seen one.. got it, now I've seen another - is it as good as or better? Arrrgh!

But the prognosis is promising and one or two more sessions should do the trick...LoL

I think you'll like the Garrison, and I'm putting that politely. I wish I had a fortune cookie that read "1 is the magic number"..

Well, yeah, there is a kinda sorta special top that is under severe consideration... Trees can make life SO difficult :eek:

So, you say that counseling works? Is that SPECIAL kind of counseling, the kind that can only be conducted with a bass with special wood?

no I was not thinking about Jason's new Monarch :smug:

I remembered that he said that there will be 3 basses with the crotch Olive top and also the raw version of that top was shown here in the club.... so I guess this was Olive Nr. 3 ;) ...(somehow sounds like a parfume to me :smug:)
