Fodera Club Part XII

I've got a "poor man's Viceroy" in the chute. I hope to capture a bit of that vibe. I put the bridge pickup in the '70s position, which I know you favor. Mahogany body and ebony 'board, but the top is koa instead of pommele sapele. While it won't have quite the versatility without the movable pickup and fretboard extension, it should have a good range of tones. After playing YYD #1 2012 at Bass San Diego, I'm very optimistic, since the Viceroy will have the same pickups and preamp. I love my Emperor, but this smaller body will be a good fit for me.

I think that Mike Pope's Fodera tone is one of the best if you're doing the kind go music he does, which is similar to my style. (At least in ambition.)

I'll be curious how your bass turns out. I thought about his sig model but went for something else that will be also tonally neutral in a similar way through different means, I hope.

Has anyone played the Emperor 5 Standard yet? Seems like the least expensive way to get into a Fodera 5. Is this the sort of Fodera that would be "lying around" at the shop if you visited to check one out?

This is what I call balance! No hands and it doesn't move, just sitting on its lower bout nothing touching the back. Amazing yys!

Hmm, well all my photos are upside down, so enjoy while you're upside down.....but wait, then you won't be able to read the post..... Ahhhggg nooooo! I don't know how to fix it. Anyways, I'm bit by the fodera bug!

Well, Fodera has proven to be my personal GAS killer. I am rarely on Talkbass anymore, thanks to this amazing instrument. I will try to pop in more often to check out this thread and some others....maybe demo some amp heads and cabs when i feel the need....but man...Literally about 5% as much Talkbass usage since I got my Emperor 5. Thanks guys!
