I know it's been asked before but what are the specs of the Fodera the bass player on AI is playing? Maple top/fingerboard, but what is the body wood, scale length and such?

Thanks, I was just out at a Blues jam with it last night. It really sits well in the mix. It's got a wonderfully fat, rich low end but it never gets bloated and the upper register is just clear as a bell (thank you Gaboon Ebony!)....

I know that all of you have been asking for a family snapshot and I STILL have not gotten around to it, so I figured that I would show you as many as I can that are in the Newborn Section. The only two missing are the 1984 Shedua topped one and a 1986 Zebrawood. I will eventually bring them to the shop and have photos taken...

How do you get out the door for a gig? I'd be spending all my time going, "I'll take these two tonight...no, that one...no, I should play this one..."

That's one reason I limit myself on number of basses. Well, other than budget

If I could choose just two this pair would be pretty near perfect and ought to complement each other really well

Funny story behind that one...it was a 2009 NAMM Bass. I was NOT a partner yet but was out at NAMM working on my book about Fodera. I took that bass back to my hotel room the first night of the show so that I'd have something to practice on and I fell in love! It was one of the very first Foderas with the new preamp and the neck feels soooo good. It has a gorgeous one-piece Honduran Mahogany body and a Brazilian FB...

So, it's like the second day of the show and there was a Dealer jerking Joey around trying to get the bass on the cheap. I turned to him and said that I'd buy it at List. Done. It came home with me. I had watched it being built in the shop and there was no way I was going to let that beauty be bought on the cheap...

Yes, I do like the larger headstock...it's just more "Old School" and it is where Fodera came from so, in general, I find that I prefer it.

The reason that I have so many basses is that I am not one of those guys that digs just one tone. I REALLY like having a whole bunch of options. I find that each brings out nuances in my playing and approach. This is where NOT being a Pro with certain things being expected of you tone-wise is really great. I get to sound the way I want based on how I am feeling on any given day. I also play with a bunch of different folks that play a variety of styles which makes the variety great too!!

Good point! BTW, scary thing is that I paid for all but two of them. 3000 was a gift from Joey and Vinny to celebrate our partnership and YYS1P was so that I could put it through its paces for 3-4 months before we decided on final production specs...
