Almost same specs as Emperor 5.
Walnut with alder tone block. Ash neck. Ebony fingerboard 33 scale and 26 frets. 16.5 mm spacing. I can't play a six string so it will be a 5

Here is an interesting video by Bob Taylor (co-founder of Taylor Guitars) that everyone who enjoys basses -- particularly boutique basses made from fancy woods -- should probably see.

It really makes me think about the ebony in my basses especially.

I think he was trying to say that he wants to go with a blank fretboard and the fretboard only will have side dots to it

This video was the first I learned of it and I was very impressed, and as a boutique bass owner very willing to support his decision in my bass purchases in the future.

We are in complete, 100% support of what is being said in the Taylor video. We happen to still have a decent sized stash of older material that is almost all black, but this is rapidly dwindling and as we replace it we are often getting material with color to it. We too will very much be pushing to shift the thinking that only black ebony is good ebony. Tonally it makes zero difference and this is what really matters...

The very first questions that we ask when we buy our woods now are "Where did it come from?", "Was it harvested sustainably?", "Do you have paperwork for it?"

We ALL have a profound responsibility to one another, to our planet, to our future and to our craft to not allow the rape of the forests.

I'm the proud owner of this beauty and I'm curious of the origin of the ebony used on it's fingerboard. It's totally black without a hint of any discoloration at all. It's the 4th Fodera I've owned and it's exactly how I would have ordered it.

You sir have excellent tastes...you lucky bastard!!! I dig them too...Still trying to figure out the spec for my first one but it will most likely be a YYD. I love my YYS but I know I will get every cent of my money's worth for the YYD! Beautiful bass! Play her in tune and in good health and know that I am but one man among many who envy you!
