I have a 36" AJP six. It's not as tough to play as others might have you believe.

I completely agree with you Joel. On mine, the neck is quite slender from the fb to the back of the neck which makes it very comfortable to play. Anthony Jackson is lighting fast on his and he doesn't have particularly large hands.

I use my OEM bag with my AJC. Haven't tried it in my Mono dual bag yet. It fit in my Protech dual bag fine.

Not playing a Fodera, but I had a case made by Glenn Chronkite for my 38" Scale. It's pretty.

I use Fodera / Reunion Blues long double bags for all of my Foderas. I have hard cases also.

Not to derail the thread, but Glenn's a great guy to deal with- timely production, fantastic quality product, and very thorough in getting me exactly what I needed.

The 38" is a monster. To anyone who's afraid of longer (36") scale instruments, I strongly suggest you give it an honest try before you knock it. Not to say you can't have a great sounding B with a 33" scale- but to me, the longer scale allows a string to speak more openly, and you begin to hear the air around the note, much like a double bass. It's a strange thing, and it's certainly not for everyone, but it's definitely different (not better).

Does anyone else have a 36" Fodera? I assume Fodera has never made an instrument longer than 36"....

I studied and played classical double bass my whole life so I feel like I would like it, but the idea of dropping that amount of money and waiting a whole year+ for something I've never even experienced scares the @#$% out of me!!

IMHO, I like CMB's tone. It's more processed than Cheese Whiz, but he's being expressive.

I like the fact that he's playing a dedicated solo tone in both cases (electric and upright) that's expressive in a very tasteful, vocal way and that helps making the bass audible, especially the upright, beyond just turning up. Surely quite extreme sounds for jazz, but very musical. IMO, obviously.

39.55" is the longest electric bass guitar scale that I know of...

Personally, I am very fond of my vinyl (with leather trim) Levy's two bass gig bag. It is amazingly constructed, very well padded, is light, has a huge front pocket and fits most large basses I have owned (Bongo, Thunderbird, etc.).

At $359, it is great and the only bag/case I have brought to gigs in the last 5 years.

Levy's is cheap in Canada as they are made here I guess. Mono was expensive when I looked at buying one.

I know a fairly famous Toronto bassist that has used a leather Reunion blues gig bag forever. They are built like brick $h!thouses! Expensive, but I guess you have to think about what thy are protecting....

I have an older CM88 and Mono dual and I agree. I looked at the current CM88, nice bag but the Mono seems to have built on the lessons learned from previous bags.
