It is a CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) and is one of only two Osage Orange topped basses ever produced by the shop. We are thrilled to have her back and hope that she heads to a wonderful new home soon!!

True! Originally sold to a customer of mine but he fell in love with a Richard Bona model instead.
I still remember the day Vinny showed me the bookmatched top. It was a no-brainer to put my name on that one, especially considering how beautiful the wood is and the fact that it was likely to be the very last Osage top offered by Fodera.
Still relatively new here to the Fodera world as I wade through the information.
Quick question - When looking at the New Born section, how do you know which basses are presold built for an individual, sold outright, and which ones are built for a dealer available to buy? (Either through dealer or direct)

Just a question and opinions from buyers about the pictures on the newborn gallery and how accurate the color is to what you receive. The pictures on the new born site are stunning. But when I look at "amateur" pictures of the same bass they always tend to look much different to me.
Case and point I am looking at purchasing a bass almost exactly the same as Hou's new Imperial. Here is a newborn pic and a cell phone pic of the same bass. Very different. Beautiful bass but which is depicts the true color of the wood? If I didn't know this was the same bass and I saw these two photos, I would have thought they were different basses. Thanks.

I posted this last week trying to get a good idea of the look of the wood. I am interested in a similar bass at UB. I found this picture taken by Timothy of his 6 string using the exact same woods. This one looks like it was taken in good neutral light. Would you say this is what the woods look like in person?

I love it..Figured Amboyna can look pretty wild but the sap and Maple neck on that bass balance out really well.:0)
Man I was dreaming this bass, it blew me away.
Just curious, as I look at other basses, their headstock has the logo of their company. Most of the have a letter or name to represent it. What does the butterfly represent, and why was it chosen?

I posted on there, but the consequence of buying this and posting here is threefold:
1) No lawsuits will ever come of this, so it will not aid in solving any problem. That's fine, except...
2) Buying it actually supports them, showing there is a market for these hideous knockoffs, meaning more will continue to be produced.
3) Read the posts! There are people that posted interested in buying them now that they've seen this one and the review given the price. That actually makes the counterfeit situation worse, by accident.
So in the long run, Fodera might actually prefer if that thread was √-1 (imaginary!).
If Jason or anyone at Fodera changes their mind about the end fate of this bass, they are free to PM me. Honestly, I have fewer qualms about keeping it than I thought!

Why not? I don't have any gigs, but I would definitely bring it if I had one. Might make a nice backup bass/something to screw around with after sound check.
Given that this instrument is a 1981 Smith, did Vinny build this one? It is quite unique, regardless of who had a hand in it.
