That was a very interesting read Jason. Sounds very typical of small family owned businesses in general. Great ideas and a great products but having adequate working capital for daily operations as well as long-term financing for adequate property and equipment to enable efficient production is no easy task. My hat off to you for what you have been able to do, especially with shortening wait times, the Standard models introduction, and putting yourself out there on this forum is a vital part of Fodera's long term success. Hard work but especially rewarding when you hit that customer satisfaction goal.

+1 very cool read. To be honest, I know another couple of builders that one would think are busy and successful (monetarily), when in actuality, their lives are in complete shambles. Gotta be that passionate artist thing. Myself included, I know many that could easily starve but forget it all when we're caught up in the music. And plenty of businessmen that call themselves musicians who are doing quite well for themselves....makes you think....either way, there are very few "jasons" around. Glad one found their way into the Fodera company. The best best in the business certainly deserves to thrive!

And no offense to the Holly lovers, but I just don't get it! It just looks so bland to me! If I'm goin for a Fodera, I want to see that gorgeous wood!

May be the Holly top is more attractive from a looks standpoint, but I'm really looking for two things: sound and comfort.

If you can't decide maybe the right answer is "neither" and you should either order one or hold out and see what else pops up.

All I have done is to help chart a direction and enlist the support ans skills of some really amazing people. Without Joey and Vinny's experience and excellence there would have been nothing for me to do and, without a really outstanding team of people we could not have executed anything. So, while I am very appreciative of the kind words and acknowledge that I have (hopefully) had a positive impact, it's a much more broad-based effort and I feel really privileged to work with the people that I do!!

Sadly art and business are two very different disciplines. What's really special about our partnership is that we deeply respect and care for one another and accept that we each bring certain gifts to the table and that we are more powerful as a team than separately.

you seem to be pretty unsure - maybe you should really jump on a new order from a dealer (like Ultimatebasses for example, as Hou mentioned) where you would not have to wait the full time and can spec your own Bass.

Ever thought of going Bolt-On when you want to catch real JB Vibes ? As for the sustain - my BO Viceroy has the most brutal sustain that I've ever heard plus the playability is like on a neckthrough (string height between strings and the body surface in the slap area ;)) - plus it's Bridge "Solo" sound is creamy... also you get "solid" tops for free on the Bolt-On ;)
