Actually, quite to the contrary, in this internet, email, electronic World, we love getting to work with people live and in person! The fact that you were willing to spend the time with us to get everything "just so" is one of the reasons that you are loving the bass so much. The more we know about what you want the better we can build for you.

Jason and company were the best, I'm sure they were getting sick of seeing me again. One of the benefits of only living a state away from the greatest luthiers in the world, in my opinion.

The back of the neck is delivered as satin on 99% of our instruments (100% from 2010 forward as we no longer offer glossy finishes). That said, over time our satin finish will become "glossy" as the finish is worn in with hours of playing time. Nothing a little 0000 Steel Wool and five minutes cannot remedy!

Sorry for all of the successive posts, but I was actually completely offline from last Wednesday evening until early this morning. It might be the longest that I have gone without TalkBass in over 5 years!

Hey Jason, does this mean that once the neck has lost the satin feel and has become glossy, using steel wool will restore the satin feel?

For right now we only have plans to build the four models that we presently are offering. They are not "limited editions" and we plan to build a mix of them each year as demand warrants.

Living in NYC has many perks. One of them being that the Fodera shop is just a drive away. I made an appointment, and I stopped by to talk basses. I had tons of questions and sending emails just werent going to answer them. I go to the shop to talk, and the Fodera crew are just awesome people. I sat down, tested some of the basses they have, and talked about what i was looking for. They answered every question. We sat down, and they explained to me the process of ordering a custom bass, and even gave me a rough estimate of how much the bass I want is going to cost. It was truly a pleasure.

Some youtube videos show the basses being tested out, and the videos do the basses no justice. Them basses can scream. Those basses rock. I look forward to the continued business with them. Just beware of very limited parking over there.

That's interesting that Fodera did 70's pickup spacing on the Monarch and Emp standards. What's the thinking there?

What is the pickup spacing on the Matt Garrison Signature/Standard? Does he have it back closer to the bridge like the 70's spacing?

Also, is Tom Kennedy's bridge pickup further back or is it just that his neck pickup was moved further back?

I am thinking about this because I just purchased a 70s style Mike Lull J and am really liking the way the bridge Pup sounds. Seems to tighten up the bottom.

As far as I know - the Matt Garrison PU spacing is where the Bridge PU is sth. between the 60ies and the 70ies spacing (while the Neck PU is on the same position like the others)

I used to have this spacing on my Imperial
