That's why I'm getting two at the same time
Monarch Elite 5 (E-C) fretted
chambered walnut body, walnut tone block
Brazillian rosewood top (non-solid)
34" scale, 17.5mm bridge, 24 small frets
5-piece maple/bubinga neck w/ebony fingerboard
dual coil pups, Fodera/Pope 3-band preamp, D-tuner
Monarch Elite 5 (E-C) fretless
chambered walnut body, walnut tone block
flame walnut top (non-solid)
34" scale, 17.5mm bridge
3-piece ash neck w/unlined ebony fingerboard
dual coil pups, Fodera/Pope 3-band, D-tuner
The idea was to have a pair of "fraternal twins" that combine elements of my Yin Yang Deluxe 4 and MGS 5. I'll keep the YYD and likely sell the MGS when these are done. Then I should have all my basses covered (pun intended):
fretted and fretless 5s, E-C for comping/soloing
fretted 4 PJ (YYD) for most rock stuff
fretless 4 (Rob Allen) for upright vibe
fretted 4 JJ (Lull) for backup and if a bandleader insists on a "traditional" look
Everything 34" scale, the Foderas all chambered walnut body and ebony fingerboard. The only adjustment I have to make on a gig is if I'm swapping between 5 and 4 (19mm spacing vs 17.5mm spacing). I'm doing that now and it doesn't give me much of a problem.

Wow tons of awesome basses in the newborn section, especially the new Labex signature model. This may be the answer to the question, can an active pickup work well with a passive pickup? I'd love to see how an EMG pbass pickup and a Duncan dual coil pickup work together.
So Jason, are we one step closer to thinking that setup would work well? How do you like the Labex setup?

Joey and I loved it in the shop but, as you all know, out on the gig is the only place that you can truly tell. Michel will be picking up the bass at our NAMM booth and gigging it during NAMM, so Joey and I will get to hear it in that context. After that, then we'll be in a position to know for sure!

Your specs sound like they will fantastic. It's been quite a year for you, revamping your playing AND your arsenal. I really wish I was closer to CA to get the "nostatic" experience live, especially when the wonder twins arrive!

How much of a difference has anyone noticed between foderas with single coil j pickups and two hum buckers in single coil mode? Assuming the single coils are at the same spacing as the outer two coils of the hum buckers...

Very close! But I feel my Ash body Emperor with singles coils have a bit more bite and punch than my Walnut Emperor with dual coils in single mode. But I believe that my single coils are in 70 spacing and the dual coils are the MG sweet spot.

Still waiting for Chris to finish my instrument. I'm in no hurry as the bass he is making for me is not needed for gigs, just a luxury that I am fortunate enough to have.

Well it has being said that once you try a Fodera bass, you get hook up. I agree with that statement. I used to own the Fodera Emperor standard and I sold it because I wanted a Fodera Elite. Well I finally got the bass. Thanks to Jason, I have my Fodera Imperial elite coming home sometime next week.
