It was deemed a less than stunning combo when I asked, along with several other poor choices. In my case, it was better to let them present possibilities, and i think I will do well.

I've always thought a YY top made with figured maple (one side roasted, one side not) would look nice. Ideally, it would be a large one piece top so that the figuring lines back up when they put the pieces back together.

E5S paid in full...in final construction, and shipping next week. This may complete my Fodera acquisitions for a while, and I think I'm going to be very OK with the two I am fortunate have.
However...I do know that had I allowed myself to touch Link Removed (more newborn details) when I was at Bass Specialties for a lesson with Ant, I would have been screwed. It's a beautiful bass, on consignment from one of Glenn's longtime customers. If you don't know him, Glenn is a great guy, and gives up a lot of his time to open his doors for Ant and others to host lessons, clinics, etc.
It's one thing to copy. Another to somehow get your hands on a Fodera case to sell it in.

Love the upright. I'm going to get my second Fodera, and my first upright+bow in the same week! I've been putting in 3 hours a day on my loaner db for the past month...98.5% working the bow. And still finding time to put in on the electric, 'cause Ant just keeps heaping it on.

Just curious, what is the best wood combination for slapping. I love the Janek Gwizdala sound, is his wood combination (walnut body, alder tone wood) ideal for slapping?
Depends on the slap tone you like. If you like a Marcus Miller type tone then no it would not be good. If you like a bit thinner Wooten/Clarke sort of tone it would be fine.
I think that the YY design can get obnoxious looking pretty fast. Purpleheart and buckeye burl would probably cross the class/crass line. If it could be photoshopped we'd know for sure, but I can't put tyhe time in right now...
A lot of ways to get there. I love walnut/ebony as it gives a snap that I can't get from alder/rosewood but I wouldn't call it warm unless my strings are a bit tired. I gigged last night with fresh strings and it was lively. Typically I haven't liked ash/maple but I have a bass with that setup that works well and in fact that is probably the best way towards a "Marcus" tone (ie what people typically think of with slap).

I changed some specs :
body will be a light weight ash
tone block will be in alder
and pickups will be Fodera/Duncan
FB in birdseye
24 frets
I have not decided about the hardwear color.
I wondering if I should go for a MG shape...
(kind of Richard Garrison style or Matt Bona...)
Any opinion about this point ?
(I never tryed MG shape)

Jason is awesome to deal with.
I really like the mg shape body, I have two, one is a normal sized and one is reduced size (Mgs). Both are very comfortable, very balanced, perfectly positioned, fits your body, etc.
The mg lower horn can be easily moved horizontally when sitting and playing without the the lower horn interfering.
Id also give thought and discussion on the weight of your bass to help influence the body style decision.
