It IS stunning!
My custom arrived today. Fodera and Jason deserve a public thank you on this instrument. Its the tone I was after. Bell like highs from the ebony walnut maple combo and teeth rattling mids that cut. Im not sure what the chambering and koa did, but I like it. Its got substantial punch too. Harmonics chime out effortlessly. Drummer should be here in a few minutes so the fun continues...

Has your bass been posted in the Newborns action? I can't seem to find it!
It IS stunning!
Yeah, I couldn't more pleased. Even the wife is crazy about it. Didn't see it in newborns yet, must be in the que.
My new baby! Best playing and sounding I have ever touched!
Wow. Amazing. Is that rosewood covers?
Yeah, Hou, pure black ebony is getting rarer and rarer these days. You'll see a lot more "figured" ebony as time goes on. I've seen it referred to as blistered, spalted, streaked, and just plain figured, but regardless the name, it's going to be the same tone and feel, just a lot more interesting to look at, and have more of an aesthetic element for luthiers to work with.Ebony covers, they feel great
