For us wine geeks, it's like breaking your first Reidel Sommelier Series glass from a box of 4 wine glasses. Until you broke the first one, you treated the glasses like a Ming Dynasty vase.... but after your first break.... meh... use the $100 (each) glasses to drink a jug of Gallo Hearty Burgundy.
Heck, I'd use them for orange juice.

My MG5 got its first dent
God I fear that moment every day when I go to grab my bass. I know it'll happen eventually, but I take longer picking her up and putting her down than anything else, First one's the worst. Don't feel bad, Last week I got a little dent in my wife's brand spanking new 2013 $50,000 Jeep Rubicon ,
she hasn't noticed yet, hopefully she's not lurking on here

I have to say that this is one of the advantages of the Gibson/Fender aged/relic-ed instruments. Many folks think that buying pre-aged instruments is goofy, and I certainly understand that thinking. However, I do have a few of them (pre-aged guitars), and it does allow me to be just a touch less conscious of possible boo boos with the finish. Can't hurt what's already dented/scratched, right?
That said, I can still remember the night I got my Fender Masterbuilt '54 Stratocaster, one of the ones that was built to the exact specs of a 1954 (and built only in 2004). I was walking with it in my office, and ended up banging the back into my wife's purse, which had a big metal buckle on it. A nice dent in the back (thank goodness) of my brand new, albeit lightly 'factory aged', $3,600 Strat. I wanted to die! How could I do that to something I was being SO CAREFUL to protect?????
Funny you all are taking about dings. I was just noticing how many headstock has after 9 months with my new Fodera. I know my Sadowksy headstock was trashed after 8 years together, but it didnt have an incredible piece of walnut on it.
I have figured at some point some of the dents can be sanded down a little or something to make them less obvious.
I am a little relieved that I'll be getting my new Callowhill Junk 5 shortly, which will let me keep the Fodera away from some of my crazier dance band gigs with drunken hordes just off the stage and save it for the more concert type appearances.

My entire headstock is covered in an anti-magnetic alloy that deflects bronze (for cymbals) and ignorance (for bandmates who make fun of the fact that it's not a Fender).

I have a question that is going to sound like I am trolling, but I honestly am not. Why do the Anthony Jackson basses cost so much more than other Foderas? While I get that they are more difficult to make in some aspects (36" scale, NT, 6 string, chambered body), in some aspects they would appear to be less expensive to manufacture (woods used, the lack of electronic manipulation, no inlays).
